Giordana Women's FR-C Pro Lyte Smoke Jersey Info

The Giordana Women's FR-C Pro Lyte Smoke Jersey is a short sleeve cycling jersey made for the hottest days of the season. Giordana redesigned it around an ultralight, fast-drying, high-stretch fabric system, aiming for a barely-there feel when temperatures peak. The front panel uses a moisture-wicking, lightweight microfiber, and the whole jersey weighs 82 grams in a size medium.

Built for heat

Two choices here cut down on bulk. The front is zipperless, which Giordana says removes extra weight and hot spots, and the collarless, low-profile neckline with a bonded collar is meant to increase airflow. The result is a cleaner, cooler fit than a standard zippered jersey. The sleeves are set-in with straight-cut cuffs and an aerodynamic shape, and they carry a 50+ UPF rating, so your arms get sun protection without a separate layer.

Fit and construction

This is part of the FR-C Pro line, which Giordana developed over decades and tested with WorldTour teams. The cut is race-ready and designed to fit close, contouring to the body like a second skin. A thermal-welded waistband with gripper elastic is there to keep the hem in place, and the pocket construction is optimized for stability so a loaded jersey stays put. Giordana makes it in Italy from 88% polyester and 12% elastane, and it carries the new Giordana logo branding.

Sizing and design

Sizes run from 2XS through 5XL. Because the fit is close, Giordana advises that riders new to the brand or between sizes tend to size up. The Smoke graphics come from the Pitera x Giordana collaboration, which draws on gravel, skateboarding, climbing and street style. The RA Perspective

When we look at a jersey for peak summer, weight and airflow come first, and this one is built around both. At 82 grams in a medium, with no front zipper and no traditional collar, it removes most of the things that trap heat or rub on a long climb. The 50+ UPF sleeves are a useful extra for riders who spend hours in direct sun and would rather not deal with sunscreen on their arms.

It makes the most sense on hot-weather road rides, fast group rides and races, where a close fit helps with both airflow and aerodynamics. The FR-C Pro cut is made to sit against the body, so the fit is trim by design. Giordana points out that riders new to the brand or between sizes tend to size up, and we would pass the same advice along.

There are tradeoffs that follow from the design. Without a front zipper you cannot vent the jersey on a long climb, so you are relying on the fabric to do all the cooling. The close cut also leaves little room for a heavy meal in the pockets or for layering underneath once the weather turns. This is a hot-day jersey, not a three-season one.

If your summer riding is mostly fast and hot, this is the jersey we would point you toward. Anyone who prefers a looser fit or likes to unzip on the way up should look at a different cut.
