Giordana Men's FR-C Pro Thermal Bib Knicker Info

The Giordana Men's FR-C Pro Thermal Bib Knicker is a 3/4-length thermal bib for fast riding when the weather is cool rather than cold. Giordana calls it a go-to knicker for all-out efforts in milder climates, and builds it close to the body in the same way as the rest of its FR-C Pro line.

Fabric

The body is Super Roubaix fleece-lined fabric with a tight knit that Giordana says improves wind protection and supports the leg through the full range of motion. Lighter-weight inserts keep the knicker from running hot, and the 3/4 length is there so full coverage does not add excess warmth on cooler, high-intensity days. Breathable panels begin at the front of the knee and wrap down around the calf. The material is 85% nylon and 15% elastane.

Cut and chamois

Giordana designed the pattern with Body Clone technology for a second-skin fit, with a higher waistline and stretchable bib straps over an upper mesh back for breathability under layers. Elastic cuffs at the legs avoid the bulk of zippers. The chamois is the men's Cirro S. The knicker has two reflective stripes on the back of the calves and a reflective Giordana logo on the lower right leg.

It is made in Italy and comes in black, XS to 3XL. The inseam runs from 19.6 inches in XS to 22 inches in 3XL. Wash at 40°C or less on a reduced cycle, and hang or lay flat to dry.

The RA Perspective

Men's thermal knickers are a good answer to a question many riders have in October and April: how do you stay warm without cooking? The Giordana FR-C Pro version puts Super Roubaix fleece around the thigh and knee and stops at 3/4 length. That keeps the muscle groups that do the work warm and leaves the lower leg free, which Giordana says suits high-intensity efforts in cooler temperatures.

The cut matters here. This is race-oriented apparel meant to fit close, like a second skin, and the higher waist and bib straps keep everything where it should be when you are down on the drops. The Cirro S is the men's chamois in this knicker. The stretchy bib uppers and mesh back play well with a base layer.

Our honest caution is about coverage. It is a milder-climate piece, so on a day that starts near freezing you will want leg warmers or a longer tight instead. The lower leg is open to the air unless you add something there, and the close fit means sizing up for comfort will lose some of what makes the fit work. The ankle cuff uses elastic rather than a zipper, which keeps the lower leg clean and free of bulk.

We would choose these for hard group rides and training days when the temperature sits in the cool zone and full-length thermal tights would be too much.
