CeramicSpeed Ceramic MTB Bottom Bracket - Threaded to GXP (SRAM) Info
The CeramicSpeed Ceramic MTB Bottom Bracket - Threaded to GXP is built around a simple principle: less friction at the spindle means more of your effort reaches the trail. Machined aluminum cups thread into a standard English 73mm BSA shell, and CeramicSpeed's Grade 3 Silicon Nitride ceramic balls are pressed into hardened steel races — a combination designed to reduce rotational resistance well below what steel-on-steel bearings produce.
Off-road riding actually stands to benefit more from low-friction bearings than many riders expect. At mountain bike speeds, wind resistance plays a smaller role in overall drag, which means drivetrain friction accounts for a larger share of your losses. The ceramic balls used here are 400% smoother and 128% harder than standard steel balls, and CeramicSpeed rates bearing lifespan at three to five times longer than conventional alternatives — meaning fewer service intervals on top of the friction gains. This GXP-compatible version fits SRAM cranks with a 24mm/22.2mm spindle, including Quarq and Truvativ.
