The Yeti MT X0 AXS Bike is the successor to Yeti's SB140, rebuilt from the ground up around Sixfinity, the brand's new six-bar suspension platform. It's a 29-inch trail bike aimed at riders who want a bike that pedals efficiently but doesn't ask them to hold back on the way down.
Sixfinity is the headline story here. Where Yeti's previous Switch Infinity design used a sliding shuttle to manage the wheel path, Sixfinity relies on six links that drive the shock and control wheel path independently, giving engineers separate control over anti-squat, anti-rise, and leverage rate rather than tying them together. On the MT, that translates into anti-squat that's tuned to support pedaling around sag before dropping away deeper in the travel, so the suspension resists bob on climbs but stays supple once things get rough on the descents. A flip-chip at the shock mount lets riders choose between three leverage-rate settings — from a racier, more consistent feel to a plusher, poppier one — without altering the bike's geometry, anti-squat, or anti-rise. It's the product of roughly a decade of prototyping, tracing back to 2016 test mules through Yeti's DH Special Projects program before landing in this production trail bike.
Frame and Ride-Ready Details
The MT is only offered in Yeti's top-tier TURQ series carbon, a high-modulus layup the brand builds for impact resistance and torsional stiffness while keeping weight in check, with a flex profile aimed at damping trail chatter before it reaches the rider. Floating collet bearings at the pivots are built to hold up under repeated hard use between services. The frame includes in-tube storage accessed through a CNC-machined door with a roller-cam latch, a top-tube accessory mount that does away with strap-on bolt-ons, and a built-in mount for an AirTag or Tile tracker as a quiet layer of security. Cable routing runs through end-to-end carbon tubes pinch-bolted at both ends, paired with a redesigned chain-slap silencer, so the bike stays notably quiet on rough terrain. Dropper post length scales with frame size — 150mm on the small, 180mm on the medium, and 210mm on the large and extra-large — with full insertion down to the collar.
Geometry and Drivetrain
Yeti lengthened the chainstays on a per-size basis to balance front-to-rear weight distribution and improve climbing traction, and raised the stack height to put riders in a more neutral, control-oriented position for descending. Reach can be adjusted after the fact through aftermarket headset cups, since the frame is built around the ZS44/56 headtube standard with integrated alignment notches. This X0 AXS build pairs a SRAM X0 crankset with a 30-tooth ring to a wireless SRAM X0 AXS rear derailleur and a 12-speed, 10-52-tooth cassette, shifted through a SRAM AXS Pod Controller — no cables, no housing to route through the frame's tunneled internal channels. SRAM Maven Silver brakes with 200mm front and 160mm rear HS2 rotors give the MT the stopping power to match its descending intentions, and DT Swiss XMC1700 EVO carbon wheels keep the rotating mass low without sacrificing stiffness under hard cornering loads.
Up front, a Fox Factory 36 Grip X2 fork delivers 160mm of travel, while a Fox Factory Float X shock manages the 140mm rear end through the Sixfinity linkage. That 20mm gap between front and rear travel is a deliberate trail-bike setup, biasing the front end toward absorbing hits while keeping the rear responsive and efficient underfoot. The result is a bike built for riders who spend their days on mixed trail terrain — long climbs to steep, technical descents — and want one bike that handles both without feeling like a compromise in either direction.
