The LeMond Monolink Ulteam Stem by Time showcases Time's prowess with carbon-fiber. This is a 100% carbon-fiber stem, built by employing Time's Resin Transfer Molding process. The face plate is also carbon-fiber. The bolts are titanium.
 
This stem was built with stiffness in mind, and a strength five times greater than a typical stem. That is why the shape is oriented for one position, and the logo design will make it clear when you have it in hand. It comes in an 80-degree angle, aka –10. The molding is designed to best resist the twisting forces that sprinting and climbing will put on a stem. Energy lost here makes the bike harder to handle and means you have to put more force into muscling the bars. Beefy stems help scrawny arms.
 
To better help with durability and light weight, the bolts securing the bars are embedded in the stem and are tightened with Allen-head nuts. Because the forces on the steerer are different, the titanium bolts here are loose and secured with nuts.
 
In addition to being strong and light, the stem is also designed to accommodate junction boxes for electronic shifting. Rather than using rubber bands or zip ties, the boxes can be bolted onto the underside of the stem.
 
This stem has a 31.8 handlebar clamp, 1 1/8" steerer clamp and will work with any bars and any steerer tube that has the matching diameter.
