The Rotor Q-Ring Aero Black Edition Outer Chainring takes Rotor's well-established oval ring concept and closes the plate entirely — a solid, CNC-machined disc of 7075 aluminium rather than the open spider arms of a standard chainring. That solid construction reduces turbulence as the ring spins, offering an aerodynamic benefit over open designs, while also increasing stiffness for more direct power transfer through each pedal stroke.

The oval geometry itself is central to how these rings work. With 10% ovality, the effective gear ratio shifts across the pedal stroke — easing through the dead spots at top and bottom, then ramping up leverage where your legs are producing the most force. The result, according to Rotor, is a more biomechanically efficient stroke for the same perceived effort. Three mounting positions — what Rotor calls OCP3 — let you dial in the orientation to suit your individual pedalling style, which matters more with oval rings than it does with round.

Available in 50t, 52t, and 53t, all on a 110 BCD, the Aero Black Edition is compatible with standard road cranks using that bolt circle diameter.
