Pearl Izumi Tri Fly V Carbon Triathlon Shoes Info

Non-triathlete cyclists have it so much simpler. They just need to look for a shoe that is light and stiff and doesn’t cause hotspots. A triathlete has so many other things to consider: can I get in fast, can I get out faster, will water drain out, will my bare feet be friction-free, and the list runs on and on. This all on top of wanting light, stiff, comfy shoes. With the Pearl Izumi Tri Fly V Carbon Triathlon Shoes, your choice just became much easier.

These lightweight, fashionable, but above all, functional tri’ shoes will cater to those unique requirements that all competitive triathletes have, while still acting as the best pair of cycling shoes you’ve probably ever owned. Bucking the trend to have the straps close toward the bike, Pearl Izumi gives you what they call their 1:1 Anatomic TRI Closure. It is an extra wide upper strap that has a large hook-and-eye function, but pulls the strap away from the bike with such a wide surface area that it will eliminate hotspots so typical with tightly, hastily drawn straps. All unwanted pressure will be removed from your forefoot. And if you are racing with bare feet, you won’t have to worry about blistering from friction since the uppers are fully lined to provide a comfy place for your tootsies, while a lot of mesh is interspersed to keep the air moving, and your toes ventilated. The insole is a made from dual density EVA for amazing support.

The outsoles are made from the Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Grade Uni-Directional Carbon to ensure the ultimate in stiffness and power transfer. The sole receives a special concave shaping to result in an ultra-low 7.0mm stack height, keeping your point of power as close as possible to the spindle. Then there is a built in Longitudinal Arch Support to offer optimal reinforcement for greater power and efficiency. They’ve also added their Direct-Vent technology which are discrete openings in the bottom of the soles to drain excess water and provide ventilation for those hot summers in Hawaii. The heel bumper is replaceable, so you won’t have to worry about scratching it beyond repair in those hectic transfer moments. Their three-bolt cleat configuration makes them compatible with SPD-SL cleats, as well as just about any pedal out there that works with a three-bolt cleat

Though the Pearl Izumi Tri Fly V Carbon Triathlon Shoes are technically their mid-level offering in the Pearl tri line, you won’t feel out of place among all the pros at Kona with these kicks on your feet.
