The CC-3.2 measures chain elongation at two thresholds: 0.5% and 0.75% wear. Replacing a chain at 0.5% is the recommended point for 11- and 12-speed drivetrains, where tighter tolerances mean wear accelerates component damage faster. For 5- through 10-speed chains, the 0.75% mark is the practical replacement point. Both indicators are built into a single tool — drop it in your chain, and the fit tells you where you stand.
