Pinarello XC GX Eagle AXS Bike Info
The Pinarello XC GX Eagle AXS is a full-suspension cross-country mountain bike built on the TORAY T900 UD carbon platform from Pinarello's Dogma XC family — the same frame technology that Tom Pidcock and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot rode to XC world championship titles in 2023 and to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Pinarello has been building race bikes in Treviso since 1952, and the XC program represents the brand's most serious commitment to off-road racing: a discipline where the demands of elite competition drive every structural decision in the frame.
This build pairs that race-developed platform with SRAM GX Eagle AXS wireless shifting and FOX suspension — a competition-ready spec at a price point below the flagship Dogma XC tier, with no compromise to the carbon engineering underneath.
Asymmetric Frame and Rear Triangle Engineering
Pinarello's patented asymmetric rear triangle is one of the most deliberate features on this bike. The drivetrain side of the rear triangle is reinforced to counterbalance the higher forces applied there, resulting in more balanced energy transfer and improved traction under hard pedaling. Asymmetry extends into the chainstays and seatstays as well, where it's designed to withstand the explosive accelerations that define elite XC racing.
The rear suspension uses a three-pivot layout combined with flex stays. Three pivots typically limit rear wheel travel, but the geometry here allows the flex stays to work alongside the pivot positions for a direct, efficient suspension response — one that saves weight, improves stiffness, and maintains a strong connection between rider and rear wheel. The bottom bracket area is intentionally oversized, using an enlarged bearing and pivot point for the rear triangle to create high stiffness at the frame's most load-intensive junction. Kinematic tuning throughout the rear end maximizes energy transfer while pedaling and delivers controlled compression and rebound behavior on technical terrain. Anti-rise and anti-squat values were engineered to allow the bike to perform equally on steep climbs and demanding descents. A connection point beneath the top tube also accommodates different rear shock absorbers, so travel can be adjusted to match specific course demands.
Suspension, Cockpit, and Drivetrain
A FOX 32 Performance Elite SC fork with 100mm of travel handles the front end without adding the weight penalty of longer-travel alternatives. The rear pairs with a FOX Float SL Performance Elite shock (190×45), tuned for XC pedaling efficiency rather than trail compliance. The cockpit is the MOST Talon Ultra XC — a fully integrated bar/stem from Pinarello's in-house component brand — with internally routed cables and a headset bearing that incorporates an internal rotation stopper to prevent over-rotation under aggressive handling. The MOST Lynx 2.0 XC saddle completes the contact points.
The drivetrain is SRAM GX Eagle AXS: 12-speed wireless shifting with a 10-52T cassette and 34T chainring. The SRAM Transmission architecture mounts the derailleur directly to the frame rather than through a hanger, improving impact resistance and maintaining alignment consistency on rough terrain. Shimano Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear provide reliable stopping power with good modulation in variable conditions. DT Swiss XR 1700 Spline 29" wheels and Maxxis Rekon Race 29×2.25 EXO TR tires form the XC-specific rolling package — fast-rolling and tubeless-ready. The FOX Transfer SL Performance Elite dropper post (30.9mm diameter, 100mm drop) is specced for course versatility.
Design Benefits
- TORAY T900 UD carbon frame: Same material and platform as the Dogma XC race program; high stiffness-to-weight ratio with a race-focused carbon layup
- Patented asymmetric rear triangle: Reinforced drivetrain side counterbalances power-side forces for more balanced energy transfer and improved traction
- Flex stays + 3-pivot rear suspension: Direct, efficient suspension response that saves weight while maintaining strong traction and rear-wheel connection
- Oversized BB area and kinematic tuning: Maximum stiffness at the frame's most load-intensive point; anti-rise and anti-squat values tuned for XC climbing and descending
- Adjustable rear travel: Interchangeable rear shock mounts allow travel to be adapted to different terrain and course demands
- FOX 32 Performance Elite SC (100mm) + FOX Float SL: Matched XC suspension spec tuned for pedaling efficiency at both ends
- SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission: 12-speed wireless shifting with 10-52T range; direct derailleur mount improves impact resistance and alignment consistency
- MOST Talon Ultra XC integrated cockpit: Fully integrated bar/stem with internal routing and internal rotation stopper headset bearing
- Shimano Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes: 160mm rotors front and rear; strong modulation in all conditions
- DT Swiss XR 1700 Spline / Maxxis Rekon Race 29×2.25: XC wheel and tire pairing with tubeless-ready construction
The Pinarello XC GX Eagle AXS is built for riders stepping into competition-level cross-country performance without moving to the full Dogma XC component specification. The frame engineering is the same; the build delivers a race-proven spec at a more accessible price point.
