Mondraker Dune RR Bike Info

The Mondraker Dune RR is a light e-MTB built around a full carbon chassis, a Bosch Performance Line SX motor, and Mondraker's Forward Geometry — built to cover aggressive enduro terrain with the weight discipline of a performance mountain bike rather than the bulk of a full-power electric. At 170mm of fork travel and 165mm at the rear, it's a long-travel enduro machine first. The Bosch SX system provides a measured assist that complements the ride rather than defining it: lighter, narrower, and more compact than Bosch's high-power units, designed to extend range and recovery without adding a significant weight penalty.

Mondraker's Stealth Air Carbon construction integrates the Bosch Compact Powertube 400Wh battery inside the frame structure itself — the battery is housed within the carbon, keeping the profile compact and the weight centralized. The suspension uses Mondraker's updated Zero Suspension System, a revised linkage with a one-piece Monoblock upper link engineered to improve shock sensitivity and pedaling stiffness simultaneously. At both ends, the Dune RR carries Öhlins: an RXF 38 M.2 29 fork with 170mm travel and a TTX18 Twin Tube cartridge up front, paired with an Öhlins TTX Air 205x65mm shock at the rear. Both units offer high-speed and low-speed compression adjustment, a climb lever, rebound, and air preload control. The shock runs with a trunnion top mount. The mullet format — 29" front, 27.5" rear — lowers the rear center of the bike for more responsive handling in tight sections while keeping the front wheel's rollover and stability advantage intact.

The Bosch Performance Line SX Gen4 is compatible with Bosch's over-the-air software update, which unlocks the eMTB+ riding mode and increases pedaling support up to 400%. Control runs through Purion 400, Bosch Mini Remote, and Bosch System Controller. The drivetrain is SRAM GX Eagle AXS T-Type wireless 1x12 — 34T chainring paired with a 10-52T SRAM XS-1275 cassette, shifted via SRAM Eagle AXS Pod MMX lever. Stopping is SRAM Code Bronze Stealth throughout: oversized 4-piston calipers with 200mm Centerline 6-bolt rotors front and rear, steel-backed metal sintered pads.

Wheels, Tires, and Cockpit

The e*thirteen Grappler Race wheels use hookless 6069-welded aluminum rims with 30mm internal width and tubeless-ready construction — 29" up front, 27.5" at the rear. Tires are Maxxis Assegai 29x2.5WT with 3C MAXX GRIP compound and DH casing on the front, and Maxxis Minion DHR II 27.5x2.4WT with 3C MaxxTerra and DD protection on the rear — a proven enduro tire pairing for varied trail conditions. The cockpit runs Onoff throughout: S6 30mm stem at 0°, 800mm-wide S6 1.0 alloy bar with 25mm rise (L and XL get a 1.5 rise bar), and Onoff Forest CNC lock-on grips. The Onoff Pija dropper post is internally routed with a 1X Remote lever — travel is size-scaled from 140mm in the S to 160mm in the M, 180mm in the L, and 210mm in the XL. Saddle is a Fizik Terra Aidon Slim X5.

Design Benefits

  1. Forward Geometry — Mondraker's long-reach, short-stem geometry philosophy with a 74° seat tube angle and 30mm stem keeps the rider centered over the bike at speed and in technical terrain.
  2. Stealth Air Carbon frame with integrated battery — the 400Wh Compact Powertube is housed inside the carbon structure, centralizing mass and keeping the silhouette close to a standard enduro frame.
  3. Öhlins suspension front and rear — RXF 38 M.2 fork with 170mm travel and TTX Air shock with 165mm travel; both carry the same multi-position damping adjustment and climb lever found on the flagship XR.
  4. Updated Zero Suspension System — revised Monoblock upper link linkage designed for improved shock sensitivity and consistent pedaling platform across terrain.
  5. Bosch Performance Line SX Gen4 with OTA support — compact, lighter-integration motor with OTA software compatibility; eMTB+ mode and up to 400% pedaling support unlock via the Bosch eBike Flow app.
  6. Mullet wheel configuration — 29" front for rollover and stability, 27.5" rear for a lower center of gravity and sharper cornering response.
  7. SRAM Code Bronze Stealth braking — oversized 4-piston calipers with 200mm Centerline rotors and sintered pads at both ends; matched to the demands of long descents and heavy trail use.
  8. Size-matched dropper travel — Onoff Pija scales from 140mm drop in the S to 210mm in the XL, keeping seat-to-bar drop proportional across the full size run.

The Dune RR is available in Bronze in sizes S through XL. Geometry numbers are consistent with Mondraker's enduro intent: 64° head tube angle, 445mm chainstays across all four sizes, and reach figures from 445mm in the S to 505mm in the XL. It's the bike for a rider who wants genuine long-travel enduro capability with Öhlins at both ends, a carbon frame, and the range extension of a Bosch SX assist system — without the weight of a high-power eMTB.

The RA Perspective

The Dune RR sits in an interesting position in the Mondraker lineup — it's not the flagship XR, but it carries the same Öhlins suspension. RXF 38 fork up front, TTX Air shock in the rear. That's the part of the XR build that matters most for how the bike actually rides, and the RR doesn't give it up. Where you step down is the drivetrain and wheels: GX Eagle AXS T-Type rather than XX, e*thirteen Grappler Race rather than carbon hoops. Both are solid choices at this build level — we wouldn't change either.

The Bosch SX motor is worth understanding clearly before recommending this bike. It is not a full-power eMTB motor. The Performance Line SX is designed to be lighter and more compact — closer to a turbo for a capable rider than a tow truck for someone who doesn't want to pedal. It makes the bike feel like a lively enduro bike with good legs on long climbs, not a fundamentally different machine. For the right rider, that's exactly right. The OTA update from Bosch is worth doing immediately — it opens eMTB+ mode and increases support up to 400%, which is the full capability of the motor.

The mullet setup and Maxxis tire spec are well-matched. Assegai MAXX GRIP / DH front, Minion DHR II MaxxTerra / DD rear — these are the correct tires for the terrain this bike is designed for. Neither is a swap candidate out of the box.

At this price point, a carbon light-eMTB with Öhlins at both ends is a strong buy. The Dune RR makes most sense for enduro-oriented riders who want assist for long days and bigger objectives — not riders looking for maximum boost on casual trails.
