Scott Scale Gravel RC Bike Info
The Scott Scale Gravel RC Bike is a flat-bar carbon gravel race bike built on the DNA of Scott's Scale XC race platform — not a drop-bar endurance machine softened for mixed terrain, but a purposeful race tool designed for gravel competitions where speed, technical capability, and power data matter. The Scale Gravel RC takes the carbon chassis that has been refined through years of cross-country racing and adapts it to the gravel context: rigid carbon fork, 29-inch wheels, a high-clearance tire envelope, and a build specification centered on the SRAM X0 Eagle AXS Transmission groupset with an integrated spindle power meter. It's a specific kind of bike for a specific kind of rider.
The frame is built from Scott's Scale Carbon HMF — High Modulus Fiber, the same material grade used in the Scale RC cross-country race bike. Scott engineered what they call an Advanced Shock and Standing Damping System into the carbon layup, designed to reduce road buzz and vibration transmission through the frame without softening the chassis under power. The monocoque front triangle construction uses a minimal number of molded sections, which reduces junction points and contributes to both weight and stiffness efficiency. The UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) interface ensures direct compatibility with SRAM Transmission-spec components. The frame runs the Syncros Cable Integration System, with internal cable and hose routing throughout. A service door built into the downtube provides access to the frame's interior without removing the bottom bracket — a practical detail that matters on a bike you'll actually race and maintain.
The fork is a matching full-carbon rigid unit with three-pack mounts and post-mount brake caliper mounts. One of the more useful engineering details is the angle-adjustable headset: the Syncros Acros unit provides ±0.6° of head tube angle adjustment, allowing the rider to tune the handling character slightly steeper for fast, open terrain or slightly slacker for more technical conditions. At the baseline geometry, the head tube angle sits at 67.9° across all sizes — firmly in XC race territory, which translates to quick, precise steering that rewards an active riding position.
The drivetrain is where the Scale Gravel RC's race intent becomes most clear. SRAM X0 Eagle AXS Transmission handles shifting via a wireless rear derailleur and SRAM AXS Rocker Pod controller. The system uses SRAM's T-Type architecture — designed around the UDH frame interface for improved chainline stability and more consistent shifting under load than earlier AXS generations. The crankset is the SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission unit with a spindle-based power meter built in, which is a meaningful inclusion on a $5,200 bike. A 34-tooth chainring pairs with a SRAM XS-1295 12-speed 10-52t cassette, giving a gear range that covers steep climbs, sustained flats, and everything in between without requiring a front derailleur.
Braking comes from SRAM Motive Silver 4-piston hydraulic disc calipers running SRAM HS2 centerlock rotors — 180mm at the front, 160mm at the rear. The 4-piston configuration provides more consistent modulation under prolonged descents and in wet conditions than 2-piston alternatives, which is relevant for longer gravel races where brake fade becomes a real concern. The wheels are Syncros Silverton 1.0X CL, tubeless-ready, and built to the centerlock standard. Fitted tires are Schwalbe Thunder Burt 29x2.35 EVO in Addix Speed compound with Super Ground casing — a light, fast tubeless-compatible tire with low rolling resistance and enough tread pattern to handle loose gravel, hard-pack, and light singletrack. The 29x2.35 volume is substantially larger than what most drop-bar gravel bikes accommodate, and it's one of the most significant capability differences between this bike and a traditional gravel machine.
The cockpit is a Syncros Fraser iC SL XC Carbon integrated unit — stem and handlebar as a single molded carbon piece, 740mm wide across all sizes with an 8-degree backsweep and -20-degree rise. This is a flat bar, not a drop bar. The integrated design stiffens the front end and reduces weight versus a traditional two-piece stem-and-bar setup. Finishing components include a Syncros Duncan 1.0 Carbon seatpost (31.6mm, 10mm offset) and Syncros Belcarra V2.0 saddle. Bar ends are included via Spirgrips+ inner bar ends, which allow an alternative hand position on long efforts.
The Scale Gravel RC is available in sizes S, M, L, and XL in Carbon Black. It's built for gravel racers who come from a mountain bike background or who simply want the terrain capability that 29-inch wheels and 2.35-inch tires provide — riders who pin on numbers at events with mixed or technical surfaces and want a bike that doesn't compromise when the gravel gets rough.
