The OPEN WI.DE. Force AXS Bike - 700c w/ENVE Kit is built around one of the widest tire ranges available on a drop-bar bike: OPEN's WI.DE. platform, short for "Winding Detours." Where OPEN's original U.P. proved a road-geometry gravel bike could still handle singletrack, the WI.DE. pushes further, opening up frame clearance for 650b mountain tires up to 2.4" (61mm) or 700c gravel tires up to 46mm, without giving up the quick, road-bike feel OPEN is known for.

This build runs 700c wheels — ENVE's AG28 gravel wheelset — wrapped in Schwalbe G-One Allround tires at 45mm, right at the top of the frame's 700c clearance and squarely in the range OPEN recommends for fast, rough gravel. Shifting and braking come from SRAM Force AXS, with SRAM Force AXS D1 hydraulic disc brakes on 160mm rotors front and rear. The rear derailleur is a SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS paired with a 12-speed, 10-50t XG-1275 cassette — a mullet setup that borrows a mountain bike's wide-range cassette and derailleur to give the Force crankset noticeably lower gearing than a road-only build would offer, useful on the steep, loose climbs the WI.DE. is meant for.

The frame is where the tire clearance comes from. OPEN drops both chainstays, not just one like the U.P., creating a box-shaped structure behind the bottom bracket that OPEN says adds stiffness and saves weight while opening up room for wider tires. The design is also front-derailleur-free, so there's no inner ring or mount crowding the tire; the frame is built around 1x drivetrains, with 2x only possible through the Classified internal-gearbox hub. The HM monocoque carbon layup blends ultra-high-modulus carbon in high-stress areas like the down tube with tougher, more impact-resistant carbon elsewhere, which OPEN uses to balance stiffness against durability rather than running one grade of carbon throughout the frame.

Up front, the OPEN U-Turn Carbon fork uses the brand's Smart-Mount 160 system, bolting the brake caliper directly to the fork leg for a 160mm rotor instead of using a four-bolt adaptor — lighter and stiffer, with one less point of failure. For a size M, head tube angle sits at 71°, with a 570mm stack and 370mm reach — numbers closer to an all-road bike than a touring rig, which is part of why the WI.DE. rides quickly on pavement despite the tire clearance. OPEN designed the steering geometry so trail grows along with tire size, which is why the handling holds up whether the bike is set up narrow or wide: Cyclist Magazine noted the WI.DE. "still felt like a road bike" on challenging terrain, and Bicycling praised how far OPEN pushed a road platform off-road, calling it "impressive on technical singletrack." Frame weight for a size M is claimed at 1,040g, with the fork adding another 390g.

The ENVE kit carries through the cockpit — an ENVE AR Road handlebar on a 90mm ENVE carbon stem, plus an ENVE 0-offset seatpost — with a Fizik Antares R7 saddle and Fizik Tempo Microtex bar tape finishing the build. OPEN also builds in room to carry gear: mounts under the down tube for an extra bottle or a small toolbox, cage bolts at the seat tube, down tube, and bottom bracket, plus clearance for a top tube bag alongside saddle, handlebar, and frame bags — details aimed at riders who use the WI.DE. for long, self-supported days as much as fast group rides.

This build is available in size M, in grey. It's suited to a rider who wants one drop-bar bike that can run fast 45mm gravel tires one week and 2.4" mountain tires the next, without the compromises usually built into either extreme.
