Giro Sport Design was founded in 1985 in Santa Cruz, California by Jim Gentes, who set out to build a cycling helmet that serious riders would actually want to wear. At the time, most helmets were heavy, poorly ventilated, and easy to ignore — Gentes changed that with lightweight foam-in-shell construction that made protection feel like part of the kit rather than an afterthought. That original focus on marrying real performance with real-world usability has carried through everything Giro has built since. Today, Giro helmets are worn at the Tour de France and World Championships, and their footwear and gloves are designed to the same standard. More at Giro’s official website.
At RA Cycles, the Giro collection is led by helmets across road, MTB, and triathlon — the Aerohead MIPS II at the premium end for aero-focused TT and tri riders, alongside road and trail options including the Syntax MIPS and Montaro MIPS III. MIPS is standard across most of the helmet range. The shoe selection covers the top of Giro’s road footwear lineup, and men’s and women’s gloves round out the collection from road to off-road use. Prices start at $24.95 for accessories and reach $599.95 for the Aerohead MIPS II.
For the full Giro helmet selection, the Giro cycling helmets collection has every model. The bike helmets collection covers options across all brands, while the cycling shoes collection and cycling gloves collection are worth browsing if you’re comparing across the market.
