DT Swiss was founded in 1994 in Biel, Switzerland — a management buyout from Vereinigte Drahtwerke, a wire manufacturer with roots in the region dating to 1634. The name reflects that heritage: “DT” stands for “Drahtwerke Tréfileries,” wireworks in German and French. In 1995, DT Swiss introduced the Ratchet hub — a patented mechanism using two interlocking toothed rings for simultaneous engagement, faster pickup, and exceptional durability under load. That hub became the foundation of a brand now trusted across road, gravel, mountain, and triathlon. R&D and spoke production remain in Switzerland. Learn more at DT Swiss’s official website.
RA Cycles stocks the DT Swiss lineup from individual components to complete wheelsets. On the road side, the ARC 1100 DiCut is DT Swiss’s aero flagship — deep-section carbon with their DiCut rim profile for crosswind stability and outright speed. The PRC 1400 Spline is the climbing and all-rounder option, while the GRC 1400 brings the same carbon construction to gravel in both 700c and 650b. MTB riders have the M 1900 and E 1900 series for trail and enduro. The collection also covers the components behind those wheelsets: Star Ratchet upgrade kits, freehub bodies, spokes, nipples, bearings, and tubeless tape.
