CeramicSpeed OSPW RS 5-Spoke Shimano Dura-Ace 9250/Ultegra 8150 Info
The CeramicSpeed OSPW RS 5-Spoke Shimano Dura-Ace 9250/Ultegra 8150 is the more affordable entry point into CeramicSpeed's RS pulley wheel platform, built for Shimano's Dura-Ace R9250 and Ultegra R8150 Di2 groupsets. Where CeramicSpeed's Alpha version swaps in a solid disc pulley, this version keeps the classic 5-spoke aluminum wheel design that CeramicSpeed has run on its OSPW systems for years — it's simpler to manufacture than a solid disc, which is part of why it sits below the Alpha pulley on price without giving up the cage geometry or bearing quality that actually drives the OSPW system's performance. The cage itself carries over CeramicSpeed's reinforced, angular RS design, built to handle the load a modern Di2 drivetrain puts through it, and the whole system comes in at roughly 285 grams.
Inside, hand-built CeramicSpeed ceramic bearings handle the friction reduction — the same bearing build CeramicSpeed uses across its RS lineup, including the pricier Alpha version. The real difference between the two comes down to the pulley wheel design and debris protection, not bearing quality: the Alpha's solid disc pulleys include CeramicSpeed's ADR system to keep debris out, while the 5-Spoke's open design leaves the bearings more exposed. Spring tension on the cage is adjustable either way, so it can be tuned for chain retention on rough roads rather than running one fixed setting regardless of terrain.
That open spoke design is the real tradeoff for the lower price — riders doing a lot of wet or gravel-adjacent road riding may want to budget for more frequent bearing service than they would with the sealed Alpha version. RA Cycles carries the 5-Spoke in Black, Gold, and Red. For a rider upgrading a Dura-Ace or Ultegra Di2 drivetrain who wants genuine CeramicSpeed bearing quality without paying for the Alpha's debris protection, the 5-Spoke is the practical way into the RS platform.
