Colnago Bikes

RA Cycles is one of the longest-standing Colnago dealers in the United States, and the full current lineup is available here as framesets and custom builds. Colnago has been building race bikes in Cambiago, Italy since 1954 — from Eddy Merckx's Molteni-era steel frames to the carbon machines ridden by Tadej Pogacar today. That continuity matters. Few brands can trace an unbroken line from the workshop floor to the WorldTour peloton the way Colnago can.

The range currently spans four carbon road platforms. The C68 is the flagship — a hand-assembled, semi-lugged carbon frame built in Italy with tolerances under 0.15mm, available in road, allroad, and gravel configurations. The Y1Rs is Colnago's dedicated aero bike, reducing frontal area by 19% over the V4Rs and requiring 20 fewer watts to hold 50 km/h. The V5Rs is the lightweight all-rounder — the lightest frame Colnago has ever produced at 685 grams — and the bike Pogacar rides when the road tilts up. The V4Rs remains available at a compelling price for a proven WorldTour-level platform.

Beyond the carbon race bikes, Colnago's heritage collection includes the Steelnovo — a modern steel frame using Columbus tubing and 3D-printed lugs, limited to 400 units per year — as well as the hand-lugged Master and the ornate Arabesque. For time trialists, the TT1 rounds out the catalog. Every bike is available as a custom build through RA Cycles with Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS, or Campagnolo Super Record WRL drivetrains.

About Colnago Bikes

Colnago was founded by Ernesto Colnago in 1954 in Cambiago, a small town east of Milan. Ernesto began as an apprentice at Gloria Bicycles at age 13, moved into racing, and after a crash ended his competitive career, started building frames in his own workshop. Within three years, a Colnago frame carried Gastone Nencini to victory at the Giro d'Italia — the first of many Grand Tour wins for the brand.

The partnership with Eddy Merckx and the Molteni team in the early 1970s established Colnago's reputation worldwide. Merckx's dominance — five Tour de France titles, five Giri, and three editions of the Worlds — was built on Colnago steel. The brand later pioneered carbon fiber construction with the C-series, beginning with the C35 in 1989 and evolving through the C40, C50, C59, C60, and C64 to the current C68. Each generation retained Colnago's signature lugged construction, even as the material changed from steel to carbon.

Today, Colnago equips UAE Team Emirates and its roster of champions. The headquarters remain in Cambiago, where the C68 is still hand-assembled from individually molded carbon tubes and joints. RA Cycles has been an authorized Colnago dealer for over fifty years, and we maintain one of the deepest Colnago inventories in the country.
