The Chris King ThreadFit T47 30x Bottom Bracket is a threaded T47 bottom bracket for frames with 68mm or 73mm shell widths and cranks with a 30mm spindle. T47 is a standard Chris King helped develop, intended as an answer to the imprecise and often noisy press-fit bottom brackets that appeared in recent years. It pairs the larger shell diameter of a press-fit design, which Chris King ties to frame stiffness, with the precision and quiet running of a traditional threaded bottom bracket.

The bearings are what Chris King is known for. They are sealed angular-contact bearings designed and built in-house in Portland, Oregon, and each one is inspected and assembled by hand. Unlike common radial bearings, they can be adjusted as they are used, so Chris King says they wear in rather than wear out. Steel and ceramic versions are available. When the time comes, the bearings are user-serviceable without special tools: remove the snap ring and seal, clean, and re-grease. The cups install with Chris King's bottom bracket cup tool.
