SRAM PC X01 Eagle Chain Info

SRAM offers two flavors of twelve-speed chains for their Eagle 1x system. The PC X01 Eagle Chain is the X01-level version, though it is interchangeable with the XX1 version of the same chain. Most of the same features, just lower on the price.

Going to 12-speed was a big challenge. The real estate on the cassette body is limited, and the XD driver already took 11-speed just barely. The only way to put on a twelfth cog was to not only reduce spacing but totally redesign the chain. So that’s exactly what SRAM set out to do. And they did it whilst creating the quietest, strongest, most durable chain in the world.

A 31-step process was created that results in perfectly smooth radii, no sharp edges, no sharp chamfers, and totally flat plates with flush hollow links. They call the system Flow Link because it engages the cogs and chainring more completely and with less friction. And then they finished the pieces with Hard Chrome technology to further extend the useful life of the chain, four times greater than standard chains, and followed it up with a Titanium Nitride coating to drop friction lower than chains which came before and reduce the likelihood of corrosion. SRAM claims it is the quietest, strongest, and most wear-resistant chain in the world. Heady stuff, and a pleasant, if under-appreciated, step up.

Better in every way than older chains. They even developed a new PowerLock master link for better locking closure. While it will work with XX1 and X01 Eagle systems, it, sadly, it’s not reverse-compatible, and will not work with other 11-speed 1x systems.

The SRAM PC X01 Eagle Chain is how you drive your SRAM Eagle 12-speed cassette.
