Assos Cycling Apparel

Assos was founded in the Swiss canton of Ticino in 1976 — and the brand's early years produced a short list of firsts that the rest of the cycling apparel industry still builds on: the first Lycra cycling short, the first bib short, and the first engineered chamois insert. That origin in genuine product invention is what separates Assos from brands that followed. The name itself comes from ancient Greek, meaning "the first, the best" — chosen by the founder's mother — and the brand has spent nearly 50 years trying to earn it with every product generation.

RA Cycles carries the full Assos range for road and mountain riding across all seasons. The Equipe RS is Assos' top-tier racing line — aerodynamically cut, with a thin, vented S11 chamois built for race pace and higher intensities. The MILLE GT is built for endurance: a thicker chamois platform with GoldenGate construction, a more relaxed upper-body fit, and the all-day comfort that matters when the ride is long. Both lines are available in men's and women's specific cuts. Seasonal gear — baselayers, jackets, tights, warmers, and accessories — covers every condition from summer heat to winter training.

About Assos of Switzerland

Assos designs, develops, and tests every product at its headquarters in San Pietro di Stabio, in the Swiss region of Ticino. The current S11 generation — launched in 2024 — updates the chamois platform across both racing and endurance lines. In the Equipe RS, the S11 chamois runs 9mm thin with perforations for airflow, tuned for high-intensity riding where heat dissipation matters as much as cushioning. In the MILLE GT, the chamois is 11–12mm with Shock-Absorb Damping foam and GoldenGate construction — a layering method that maintains compression and chamois position across hours in the saddle. The MILLE GTO introduces a more open-structure upper for additional breathability in warm weather without compromising the endurance platform underneath.

Beyond the core bib short and jersey lines, Assos builds a complete seasonal system: lightweight baselayers that regulate moisture against the skin, wind vests and midlayers for variable conditions, and waterproof rain jackets for wet days. Gloves, socks, overshoes, chamois cream, and caps round out a range designed to cover every variable a road or trail rider encounters across a full year of riding.
