Assos Mille GTS Sturmprinz Rain Jacket S11 is Assos's cold-weather rain shell built for riders who keep training through the kind of conditions that end most people's rides early. Assos develops the jacket around ATLANTIS, a proprietary 3-layer membrane rated at 42,900 g/m²/24h for moisture vapor transfer, aimed at keeping rain and road spray out while still letting the rider's own heat and sweat escape during hard efforts. It's built into the Mille GTS line, Assos's endurance-oriented rain and cold-weather category, cut in what Assos calls its most streamlined MILLE silhouette — closer to a race fit than the brand's touring-focused rain jackets, without going as tight as its dedicated racing shells.
Assos zones the fabric by function rather than using one material throughout. The front panels, sleeves, collar, and shoulders run a 90% polyester, 10% polyamide face fabric over the ATLANTIS membrane, while the back panel switches to a CORE Light softshell for a bit more stretch and airflow where the jacket sees less direct rain. Hems and cuffs use an 80% polyamide, 20% elastane coated material for a snug, ultra-elastic seal against wind and water at the openings. All of it is PFAS-free, and Assos fully tapes the seams rather than relying on the face fabric's coating alone, which is where a lot of cheaper rain shells fail first.
Two features do most of the work once the jacket is on. The airVents system opens automatically when a rider shifts into an upright climbing position, venting heat exactly when the body needs it most without requiring the rider to stop and adjust anything. The fastClosure front uses a dual-zip design that can be opened from the top or bottom for ventilation, with sliders built to auto-align so they're easy to grab with winter gloves on. Reflective detailing helps with visibility on the low-light rides this jacket is built for, and Assos rates it across a wide temperature range, from deep winter cold up into the mid-60s — a broader window than most single-purpose rain shells try to cover. There's no hood, since the jacket is built to layer over a thermal midlayer rather than replace one, and it's designed with WorldTour-level racing and training in mind rather than casual commuting.
