3T Primo 2 WPNT Rival AXS XPLR Discus 40/30 Bike Info
The 3T Primo 2 WPNT Rival AXS XPLR Discus 40/30 Bike is 3T's gravel bike for riders who want the engineering substance of the Italian brand's lineup without the full weight of their race-focused models. 3T is an Italian cycling company with a long history in precision components — stems, handlebars, seatposts — that brought their materials expertise to complete bikes built around a distinctly single-chainring, go-anywhere philosophy. The Primo 2 is their gateway into that world: a lightweight carbon gravel bike built around SRAM's 1x13 XPLR AXS wireless drivetrain, 3T's own carbon wheels, and an integrated cockpit that routes all cables internally for a clean, road-bike aesthetic on a machine designed for rougher terrain. At $6,499, nothing in the build reflects a shortcut — 3T Discus carbon wheels, a Fizik saddle, and purpose-built gravel tires are all part of what ships with the bike.
The frame is the Primo 2 UDH carbon, painted in Italy. The UDH designation refers to a Universal Derailleur Hanger dropout — a standardized mount that's compatible with SRAM's direct-mount drivetrain architecture and makes hanger replacement straightforward anywhere in the field. The carbon layup uses a high-modulus/high-strength performance blend — 3T's WPNT designation marks their premium carbon spec over the standard Primo 2 — and the 3T Fango Primo 2 fork carries the same carbon construction to the front end. What separates the Primo 2 from its predecessor is the hidden cable routing system. The 3T APTO stem uses a semi-integrated spacer kit that feeds cables through the headtube without external housing runs, and the 3T Superghiaia Integrale LTD handlebar — 3T's flared gravel drop bar — routes brake hoses and electronic wiring through the bar internally. The cockpit reads nearly as clean as a road bike while being purpose-built for gravel.
The drivetrain is SRAM Rival XPLR AXS 1x13 — a 13-speed wireless electronic groupset designed specifically for gravel riding. XPLR is SRAM's designation for the gravel-specific platform: clutch derailleur for chain retention on rough terrain, a wide-range cassette, and a drivetrain tuned for the variable demands of sustained off-road riding. The 40t chainring drives a 10-46t cassette, giving a gear range wide enough for steep gravel climbs while retaining practical speed on paved connections between gravel sections. The wireless AXS architecture eliminates shift cables entirely, which is part of what makes the integrated cockpit setup viable. Braking is SRAM Rival hydraulic disc with 160mm rotors — well-matched to gravel use where modulation and consistent performance in wet conditions matter as much as stopping force.
The 3T Discus 40|30 wheels are 3T's own carbon offering — 40mm deep in the rear, 30mm deep in the front, an asymmetric pairing that's been central to 3T's wheel philosophy across their lineup. The shallower front handles crosswinds more predictably and provides more confident steering over technical terrain; the deeper rear captures aerodynamic gain where the rider's body naturally shields the wheel from gusts. Both wheels are tubeless compatible. Tire spec varies by availability: either Pirelli Cinturato Adventure 700x45 or Vittoria Terreno T30 Sport 700x40. The Cinturato Adventure is a capable all-terrain gravel tire with strong tubeless performance and a tread suited to mixed surfaces; the Terreno T30 Sport rolls faster on hardpack and gravel roads. Either way, the bike arrives with tubeless-ready rubber on tubeless-ready rims, and run at 40-50 psi the ride character reflects that setup fully.
The finishing kit is well chosen throughout. A Fizik Vento Argo X5 140mm saddle handles the sit bones with a short-nose design suited to the more forward position many gravel riders adopt. The 3T Prendo Tough bar tape is built to absorb vibration over long days in the drops. The 3T nylon front-load bottle cage keeps water bottles accessible on rough terrain where side-load cages tend to lose them. The Primo 2 comes in four colorways — Fumo (smoke grey), Orchidea (pink), Gesso (white), and Salvia (sage green) — and four sizes: S, M, L, and XL, with stem lengths and bar widths scaled appropriately across the range. The Primo 2 WPNT is a gravel bike with clear intent: internal cables, a 1x13 wireless drivetrain, carbon wheels, and a carbon frame built with the same material standards 3T applies across their entire lineup.
