BMC Trackmachine 01 FRS Frameset Info

The BMC Trackmachine 01 FRS Frameset is BMC's flagship carbon track platform, developed in direct cooperation with Swiss Cycling athletes and built around one purpose: velodrome performance across every discipline. Sprint, keirin, pursuit, points race — the Trackmachine 01 adapts to all of them. That flexibility is engineered in, not bolted on. Adjustable steel sliding dropouts let you dial chainline and chain tension for any gearing configuration. The P2P Integrated Aero Seatpost offers four saddle attachment options for precise position changes between events. The Trackmachine Halo Fork manages airflow around the front wheel. At 3,090g for a size M with stem and accessories included, this is a purposefully light carbon frameset ready to be built into a proper track weapon.

The carbon layup draws on BMC's road and time trial engineering but is tuned specifically for the demands of track racing — where there are no gears to hide in, no coasting, and no margin for flex that bleeds watts. The frame uses BMC's Aero Design profiling throughout, and the Vmax Aero Design Hinge fork is central to the aerodynamic story: its wide fork legs direct turbulent air away from the front wheel, promoting the kind of clean, attached airflow that makes a measurable difference in timed events. The bottom bracket shell is BSA threaded — a deliberate choice on a track frameset where reliability and compatibility across track-specific cranks matters more than marginal weight savings.

Trackmachine Halo Fork

The Trackmachine Halo Fork is purpose-built for the track. Its distinctive wide fork legs aren't a styling choice — they're designed to manage the turbulent air generated by a spinning front wheel, pushing it outward and keeping the frontal airflow cleaner as it passes the rider's legs. On a velodrome, where aero gains compound over laps at consistent pace, this is the kind of detail that earns its place on the spec sheet.

P2P Integrated Aero Seatpost

Position flexibility is a serious consideration for track riders who compete across disciplines. The P2P (Position to Position) Integrated Aero Seatpost addresses this directly with four saddle attachment configurations, allowing meaningful saddle height and setback adjustments without swapping components. The seatpost itself is carbon, with an aerodynamic profile that flows from the seat tube cleanly — no external clamps, no exposed hardware interrupting the line.

Adjustable Steel Sliding Dropouts

Track bikes live and die by chain tension. The Trackmachine 01 uses fully adjustable, replaceable stainless steel sliding dropouts with a chainstay adjustment range of 375 to 444mm, covering virtually any gearing combination a rider might run in competition or training. The dropouts are stainless steel — chosen for durability and corrosion resistance under the repeated adjustments that come with a bike used across multiple events. Tire clearance is 26mm, confirming this is built for narrow track tires, not a dual-purpose machine.

Build Compatibility

The Trackmachine 01 accepts any standard 1-1/8" stem and is fully compatible with BMC's separately available Pursuit Base Bar cockpit, designed specifically for this frame. The rear spacing is 120mm, standard for fixed-gear track competition. BSA threaded bottom bracket shell. The frameset ships with the P2P Aero Seatpost, Trackmachine Halo Fork, and all hardware. No drivetrain, wheels, bars, or stem included.

Final Take

The BMC Trackmachine 01 FRS is the foundation for a serious track build. Swiss Cycling had a hand in its development, the engineering decisions — threaded BB, adjustable dropouts, four-position seatpost, aerodynamic fork — reflect what riders competing at a high level actually need, and the 3,090g system weight leaves room to build something genuinely fast. Available in Carbon / Cool White in sizes S, M, and L.

The RA Perspective

The Trackmachine 01 FRS is one of the few track framesets we stock that you can genuinely build for multiple disciplines without compromising any of them. The adjustable sliding dropouts and the P2P seatpost's four attachment options are what make that possible — you can run pursuit geometry and gearing one weekend and reconfigure for criterium track work the next without a full rebuild. That kind of adaptability is rare in a frame this purpose-built.

The Vmax Halo fork is legitimately interesting. Wide fork legs on track bikes are not new, but BMC's implementation is clean and the aero claim is grounded in how the geometry actually moves air rather than just looking fast. The carbon quality throughout the frame reflects what BMC does on their WorldTour road program — the Trackmachine 01 draws from the same engineering DNA as the Teammachine.

What we'd tell a prospective builder: budget for a quality track crankset and matching chainring, and think carefully about whether you want the BMC Pursuit Base Bar. The frame is compatible with any 1-1/8" stem, so standard road cockpit parts work fine for sprint and non-pursuit disciplines. The BSA threaded BB is a genuine advantage here — far easier to source quality track-specific crank adapters for than a press-fit shell would be.

At $6,999 for the frameset, this is in the range of serious track competition equipment. If you're building a velodrome bike to race on, it's a strong starting point.
