The Yeti ASR T2 Bike puts that frame and its complete RockShox SID Ultimate suspension package under a more accessible build spec without changing anything that matters to how the bike actually rides. The zero-redundant-carbon construction, size-specific layup tuning, hollow-carbon pivot design, flex stay suspension architecture, and internal TwistLoc routing are all identical to the top-tier build. Where the T2 differs is in the drivetrain and wheels: SRAM X01 Eagle mechanical shifting and DT Swiss XM1700 alloy wheels instead of wireless AXS electronics and carbon race wheels. The result is a $7,200 entry into one of the best XC race frames available.

Yeti’s TURQ-Series carbon is the top designation in their lineup, and the ASR represents their most ambitious carbon engineering project to date. Rather than building in material for safety margin, Yeti worked from single-ply carbon layups with custom ply shapes and precision-cut sheets at every part of the frame. The SID Ultimate 3P suspension is the same fork and shock on every ASR build, and it does things that 115mm of travel doesn’t normally do — particularly in small-bump sensitivity and TwistLoc efficiency.

The X01 Eagle mechanical drivetrain is not a compromise. A lot of racers specifically prefer cable-actuated shifting because it’s predictable, doesn’t require charging, and can be adjusted trackside with a barrel adjuster. X01 is light, crisp, and has a decade of refinement behind it. The XM1700 wheels are alloy, which means they’re more durable than carbon in training conditions and far easier to replace or rebuild if something goes wrong.

Where we’d push back on the T2: if you’re primarily racing XC and every gram counts, the XRC 1200 carbon wheels on the T3 make a noticeable difference in how fast the bike accelerates. If that’s your use case, it’s worth the step up. For everything else — trail riding, mixed-surface racing, training, or riders who prefer mechanical shifting — the T2 is the smarter buy.
