The U.P / U.P.PER 2.0 is that same idea, perfected for today's faster gravel racing, bigger tires, and modern drivetrains.
Aero Where It Matters
OPEN puts aerodynamic shaping where it actually pays off: the headtube, fork, bar, and downtube - the front of the bike where airflow is still clean. That means less drag when you're pushing speed on pavement or racing gravel. But OPEN doesn't chase aero at the cost of comfort, because if the bike beats you up, you can't stay low and fast anyway.
Comfort Where It Counts
As you move toward the back of the bike, comfort becomes the priority. The seat tube, chainstays, and seatstays are shaped and tuned to keep OPEN's famous compliance. The signature 'Wire-Stays' are thin and intentionally pre-set to flex for better vibration control, helping you stay fresher deeper into long rides.
The 35-46mm Sweet Spot
The U.P / U.P.PER. 2.0 is optimized around 35-46mm tires - the range that's fast enough for hardpack and pavement, but big enough for loose gravel and rough roads. Run a slick 700x32-35 for fast mixed rides, or go up to a true 45mm for serious gravel.

OPEN UP - U-Turn Aero Fork
Fork design is a big part of what makes an OPEN feel "right." The standard U-Turn Aero fork is built for speed, with aerodynamic blades and an integrated brake caliper area to keep the front clean. OPEN also has a U-Turn Adventure fork option on the roadmap for riders who want more compliance and cargo capability. Even the fork crown is size-specific, so smaller and larger frames get the stiffness and comfort balance they actually need.
OPEN B.A.R. - Fit Without Compromise
One-piece bar/stem systems look great, but they usually lock you into one stem length. OPEN's B.A.R. system solves that with a closed-form carbon structure (continuous fibers for strength) and an internal clamp that lets you adjust stem length by 15mm in precise 5mm steps. That's a big deal for dialing fit, especially when you're fine-tuning reach and stack for long days in the saddle.
Smartmount 160 Braking
OPEN pioneered Smartmount for a cleaner, stiffer brake setup. Instead of extra adapters and bolts, the caliper mounts directly to the fork and frame for 160mm rotors. The result is simpler, lighter, and more rigid - which can mean better braking feel when the speed is high and the surface is unpredictable.
Modern Standards, Easy Service
This frameset is built around standards that make real-life ownership easier. You get a T47 threaded bottom bracket (quiet, strong, and service-friendly), plus a UDH rear hanger so you can run everything from classic drivetrains to SRAM Transmission. Internal routing keeps the bike clean, but OPEN also focuses on cockpit adjustability so fit changes don't turn into a full rebuild.
Storage, Mounts, and 'Worry-Free' Details
The U.P / U.P.PER 2.0 is ready for real riding, not just photos. Both frames have mounting points for a top tube bag and under-the-BB storage. The U.P. 2.0 adds three more rivnuts under the top tube for certain frame bags. You'll also find details like broad-shoulder dropouts to make wheel installs easier, and Rotoblock fender mounts designed to reduce rattling and rubbing.
