Triathlon helmets are purpose-built around one variable: aerodynamics. The closed shell, elongated tail, and integrated visor are all designed to reduce drag in the TT position, where the helmet represents one of the largest sources of wind resistance on the bike. Unlike road helmets, there are no open vents to cool you down — the tradeoff is real heat buildup on longer bike legs.
