The RA Perspective

There are fast wheelsets, and then there is the Lightweight Meilenstein EVO Disc Black. Most disc road wheels sit well above 1,500 grams once you account for the reinforcement the hub flanges require under disc braking loads. The Meilenstein EVO Disc gets there at 650g front and 730g rear.

What sets the Schwarz edition apart is the CeramicSpeed bearings in the DT Swiss hubs. The friction reduction is real and perceptible at sustained race pace — not a marginal spec you'll only detect on a dynamometer. The quick-change axle system on the DT Swiss hub is also a practical detail that riders with multiple bikes appreciate: changing axle standards takes seconds without tools.

The carbon spokes are worth understanding before you buy. They are full carbon fiber — not wrapped or hybrid — which means they are less forgiving than steel if something strikes them laterally. We counsel buyers to be mindful about transport and storage. The trade-off is a more direct, elastic-free connection from hub to rim that other spoke materials can't match.

This wheelset is for riders who are training and racing on disc brake bikes and want the ceiling of what's available in weight and performance. It handles gravel in a pinch — the 24mm internal width accommodates up to 32mm tires — but its character is road racing. If you're building a dedicated race day setup and weight is the primary variable, the Meilenstein EVO Disc Black is where the conversation ends.
