F3 Formmount Phone Component Mount Info

If you want your phone mounted out-front style on your bike, F3’s FormMount Phone Component gives you the ability to do just that.

The first thing is you need to procure and install the FormMount, which we carry. It’s light, simple, unobtrusive, aero, doesn’t get in the way of cables, and looks good. The only major limiter for installing it is the distance between the stem bolts. This mount works with the bolts as close as 16mm and as far apart as 41mm. Compatible stems also need to use M5 bolts to secure the faceplate and have a parallel bolt axis. When installing this, you’re removing two M5 bolts from your current faceplate and installing one set of FormMount’s bolts in their place.

Once you have the FormMount on your bike, then you can add the Phone Component. The kit consists of a molded polymeric platform with four nickel-plated neodymium magnets, and a slim steel upper plate that is affixed via sticker adhesive to a smooth phone case made of plastic or metal. The pieces measure about 2 inches square (2” x 2”). The kit also comes with an alcohol wipe to clean the phone back and a tether.

The F3 platform replaces the Computer Mount. You’ll want to figure out fore-aft positioning before installing the plate on your phone. You can mount either in portrait or landscape, or set it up so you can do either. The big thing is not to have the phone touching anything else on the bike, like the stem or handlebar. Then the plate is mounted to the phone.

The tether is bolted to the plate. you’ll want to make sure it is short enough so if the phone accidently comes off the mount, it won’t drop into your wheel.
