Colnago C68 Super Record WRL Pintura personalizada 53 cm Info

The Colnago C68 Super Record WRL Custom Paint 53cm is Colnago's top carbon road bike in a custom-painted finish, built with Campagnolo's wireless Super Record groupset and Bora Ultra WTO 45 carbon wheels. Colnago has been building bikes in Cambiago, Italy since 1954, and the C68 is the road frame where that heritage meets disc brakes, a threaded bottom bracket and a race-oriented build. It is for riders who plan to ride hard and keep the bike for years.

The C68 Frame

The C68 is made from carbon, assembled from multiple carbon modules and not molded as one monocoque piece. The RA Cycles page lists eight modules. It is UCI homologated and rated for a 120 kg combined rider and bike load. The big change from the earlier C64 is the bottom bracket. The C68 moves to a threaded T47 shell, which Colnago positions as easier to service than the older design, and which is generally less likely to creak than a press-fit shell. The fork is a carbon disc fork with a 1-1/8" steerer and integrated cable routing, and a CeramicSpeed SLT headset keeps the front end turning smoothly.

Frame clearance is listed at up to 30mm. The bike comes with Pirelli P Zero Race TLR 700x28 tubeless tires, which leaves some room above what is fitted. That is a race-oriented setup. If you want much more tire room for rough roads, the C68 range also includes an All Road model with relaxed geometry.

Wireless Super Record

The drivetrain is Campagnolo Super Record WRL, a 12-speed wireless electronic groupset with Ergopower levers and hydraulic disc brakes. The bike has 48/32 chainrings on 172.5mm cranks, paired with a 10-27 cassette, and 160mm front and 140mm rear rotors. Going wireless means no shift cables between the levers and the derailleurs, which keeps the cockpit cleaner and makes the bike simpler to set up.

Wheels and Cockpit

The wheels are Campagnolo Bora Ultra WTO 45, carbon rims with a 45mm depth and a 21mm internal width, on CULT ceramic bearings. That depth is a good all-round choice for a road bike, deep enough to help on flats and descents and manageable in crosswinds for most riders. The cockpit is Colnago's CC.01 integrated bar and stem, which keeps the front end clean and ties into the frame's internal routing.

The Custom Paint

This build is finished in a custom paint scheme that sets it apart from the standard Colnago lineup. Colnago is known for its paint work, and a custom finish is a good reason to choose a Colnago over a bike that looks like every other carbon frame on the group ride. Because paint is such a personal choice, check the photos on the page, and ask us for more images if you want to see the finish from other angles.

Who It Suits

The C68 Super Record WRL in 53cm is a premium road bike for a rider who wants Italian craftsmanship, wireless Campagnolo shifting and a bike that looks different from the usual choices. It is built to race but comfortable to ride all day. At this level it is as much an object to own as a machine to ride.

The RA Perspective

We have not ridden this specific bike, so this is our read of the build and the frame. The C68 is a race-oriented Colnago, and this one pairs it with Campagnolo's wireless Super Record and a set of Bora Ultra WTO 45 wheels. The shifting is wireless, which means a clean cockpit and no cables to worry about at the levers.

The move to a T47 threaded bottom bracket is a practical change, and it makes the bike easier to live with over the years. The 28mm tires and 45mm wheels are a sensible pairing for a road bike that is meant to be ridden hard.

There are tradeoffs. At $19,999.99 this is a very expensive bike, and a good part of that is the paint and the name. The listed 30mm tire clearance is on the modest side for a bike this price when many current road frames fit more, so look at the All Road C68 if you want to run wider tires. It is also a 53cm in a custom finish, so there is only the one to choose from, and the paint is not something you can undo.

It is best for riders who want an Italian race bike with some character, and who care about how it looks as much as how it rides. We would reach for it on a long, fast road ride on a good day.
