Cervelo Aspero GRX RX827 Di2 Bike Info
The Cervelo Aspero GRX RX827 Di2 Bike is Cervelo's answer to riders who want gravel capability without sacrificing the efficiency of a road bike. First introduced in 2019, the Aspero helped establish speed-focused gravel as its own category, and this generation carries that intent forward with a carbon frame tuned for long days of mixed-terrain riding at pace rather than an all-road tourer built to haul gear. It's a gravel bike aimed at riders who race, chase fast group rides, or simply want a bike that rewards effort on loose surfaces the same way a road bike does on pavement.
Cervelo built the frame around an asymmetrical T47a threaded bottom bracket, a design first used on the R5-CX, which makes the bottom bracket easier to service without sacrificing stiffness where power transfer matters most. Dropped seat stays improve compliance over rough gravel, while the front end is tuned with slightly reduced stiffness to cut down on rider fatigue during extended efforts. The frame also uses a Universal Derailleur Hanger, so it's compatible with modern drivetrain standards should you ever want to swap components down the line. Cervelo's engineers focused the frame's aerodynamic refinements on reducing energy expenditure over a long ride rather than chasing outright speed — the kind of gain that shows up less on a stopwatch and more in how fresh your legs feel three hours into a gravel race.
Electronic Shifting Built for Gravel
This build is equipped with Shimano's GRX Di2 RX827 groupset, a 12-speed electronic drivetrain purpose-built for gravel riding. The Shimano GRX RX820 crankset runs a 46-tooth Wolf Tooth chainring paired with a Shimano XT M8200 12-speed cassette spanning 10-51t, giving you road-bike gearing for flat, fast sections and mountain-bike range for steep, loose climbs — a spread that a traditional 2x road setup can't match. The crankset also carries a 4iiii Precision GEN3+ single-sided power meter, so you get ride data built into the drivetrain rather than bolted on as an aftermarket accessory. Shimano GRX RX820 hydraulic disc brakes with CL800 centerlock rotors handle stopping power, giving you consistent, modulated braking on the descents and in wet conditions where gravel riding tends to punish underpowered brakes.
Wheels, Tires, and Fit
Cervelo spec'd this build with Reserve's dedicated gravel wheelset — a 48mm-deep front and 53mm-deep rear carbon rim, both built on DT Swiss 370 hubs and tubeless-compatible. The deeper rear rim is a nod to gravel-specific aero thinking: most of a rider's frontal drag comes from the front wheel and fork, so Reserve deepened the rear to add aero benefit without the handling penalty a deep front rim brings in gravel's inevitable crosswinds. WTB Vulpine TCS Light Fast Rolling tires in a 700x45 size come stock, striking a balance between rolling speed on hardpack and enough volume to handle chunkier gravel and light singletrack. Fizik's Vento Argo X3 saddle, a wider, short-nose design increasingly common on gravel and endurance road bikes, rounds out the cockpit alongside Cervelo's own AB09 carbon handlebar and SP19 carbon seatpost.
The Aspero GRX RX827 Di2 is available in six sizes, from 48cm through 61cm, with reach spanning 370-415mm and stack from 505-630mm, giving both compact and taller riders a proper fit rather than a scaled-up or scaled-down version of one geometry. It's offered in Dusty Unicorn and Quarry colorways. For riders who want to race gravel or push hard on long mixed-surface rides without wrestling a bike built primarily for cargo capacity, the Aspero GRX RX827 Di2 is built specifically for that job.
