The MIPS Evolve implementation is the detail we point to first. Older MIPS designs added a separate floating liner, which made helmets slightly bulkier and sometimes uncomfortable for kids who notice every little thing. Evolve integrates the slip plane into the retention system itself — same rotational force reduction, less material, closer fit to the head. For trail riding where angled impacts are more common than straight-on ones, that matters.

The Ergo Fit dial is genuinely easy to use. Kids can adjust it themselves, parents can dial it in at the trailhead in seconds, and it holds position through a full ride. We see a lot of kids' helmets where the fit system loosens mid-ride because the dial is too easy to knock. The rubber overmolding on this one gives it enough resistance to stay put.

The extended rear coverage is worth noting for parents buying this for trail use. Standard road helmets don't wrap as far down the back of the head — this one does, which is appropriate for the kind of riding kids actually do.

Three sizes cover toddler through youth with universal sizing, so you have a real range of adjustment within each. The HiViz/Red colorway is popular with parents for obvious visibility reasons; the White Star tends to be the one kids pick themselves.
