The RA Perspective

The first thing you notice with the Dermasensor is that it doesn't feel like a base layer at all — no seams digging in, no bunching at the underarms or waist, just one piece of fabric that moves with you. That's the seamless knit construction doing its job, and it's the reason this one costs more than a standard winter base layer.

Where it earns its keep is under a full winter kit. Layered under Mille Thermal bibs and a winter jacket on a cold ride, it manages sweat well enough that you don't get that clammy, cold-again feeling on the descents after a climb. The extended collar is a small detail that matters more than it sounds — it closes the gap at the throat that a lot of base layers leave open, which is often where cold air actually gets in.

The tradeoff is that this is built specifically for cold-weather layering, not standalone wear. On a mild day it runs warm, and the compressive regularFit is snug by design, so riders who prefer a looser base layer should size accordingly.

We'd reach for this on the coldest rides of the season, under a full thermal kit, rather than as a shoulder-season piece you wear on its own.
