The Aheadset Starnut for 1 1/8" is a straightforward, reliable component that keeps your threadless headset system properly tensioned and your fork securely in place. Designed to press into 1 1/8" aluminum or carbon steerer tubes, the starnut provides the anchor point that allows your stem's top cap bolt to preload and adjust bearing tension — a small part that the whole front-end setup depends on.
Installation requires pressing the starnut a minimum of 15mm below the top of the steerer tube, after which it grips the tube's inner walls and holds position under load. If you're cutting a steerer or rebuilding a threadless headset from scratch, having a spare starnut on hand is a straightforward way to make sure the job is done right from the start.
