The 353 NSW is Zipp’s statement on where road wheels are going. The Sawtooth profile is the kind of technology that takes a moment to understand but immediately makes sense once you do — rather than committing to a fixed depth and accepting its compromises at every other yaw angle, the rim shape is built to handle a range of real-world conditions without the handling penalty you get from very deep sections. It’s a more sophisticated answer to the speed question.

The AXS Wheel Sensor integration is the detail that keeps coming up in conversation. Real-time tire pressure monitoring has existed in various forms, but having it built directly into the wheel — not a clip-on device, not an afterthought — and feeding live data to the AXS app is a genuine quality-of-life shift. Tire pressure is the most underrated variable in wheel performance. A 30mm tire at 65 psi rides and rolls completely differently than one at 73, and most riders are guessing at the start line. The sensor removes the guessing.

The ZR1 SL hub is a meaningful step up from the previous NSW generation — lighter, 66 engagement points, ceramic bearings. It’s the kind of hub you’d be happy to spec on any wheel.

A few things worth knowing before buying: the hookless rim means tubeless only, 29–35mm tires, max 73 psi. Those parameters suit most modern disc road setups, but if you’re running a tight-clearance frame or prefer high-pressure clinchers, that’s a conversation to have first. The AXS sensor data also feeds exclusively to the SRAM AXS app, so it’s most useful if you’re already in that ecosystem.
