The Bont Riot TR+ 26 Shoe - Wide is Bont's dedicated triathlon shoe, built around the carbon composite, heat-moldable shell the brand built its reputation on, sized here in the wider Asian-fit last for riders who need more room through the forefoot than Bont's standard shape allows. The carbon sole runs an industry-leading 4.6mm stack height, keeping the foot closer to the pedal spindle than a thicker-soled road shoe and translating more of each pedal stroke into forward motion. Because the shell is heat-moldable, it can be baked and shaped to the rider's individual foot rather than relying on generic arch support and padding to compensate for a stock last that doesn't quite fit. At 238 grams per shoe (size 42), the added stiffness doesn't come with a real weight penalty.

Every detail is built around getting in and out of the shoe fast in transition. The independent double Velcro closure includes a heel loop, so the shoe can be pulled on and cinched down in one motion without fumbling with laces or a ratchet dial mid-race. Inside, a honeycomb fabric liner adds lightweight padding without holding water the way a solid foam liner would, which matters when you're stepping straight from a wetsuit or a hosed-down transition mat into the shoe. A low-profile anatomical heel cup keeps the foot locked in place while clearing the ankle bone, and a Bont x Cobra9 dual-density EVA insole adds cushioning without softening the shoe's direct, race-stiff feel underfoot. The upper is an ultralight microfiber chosen for breathability over a hot bike leg.

Cleats mount to a fixed 3-hole road pattern using carbon steel hardware, and the shoe is built across 19 sizes from 36 to 50 in 5mm increments, with this Wide version sized for riders who find Bont's standard last too narrow through the midfoot. Plan on a proper oven-and-fit session before race day, not the morning of.
