Wilier Filante SLR ID2 Red AXS Bike w/Power Meter and Deva RD 52 CeramicSpeed Wheels Info

The Wilier Filante SLR ID2 Red AXS Bike w/Power Meter and Deva RD 52 CeramicSpeed Wheels is Wilier's most advanced aero road bike, built as a complete race machine with SRAM's wireless Red AXS E1 group, a crank-based power meter and deep carbon wheels on ceramic bearings. Only pedals are left to add. Wilier developed the second-generation Filante with the Groupama-FDJ United Cycling Team, and the aim was a frame that is fast in the wind without becoming harsh or hard to handle.

What Wilier changed for the ID2

The ID2 name marks the second generation of the Filante SLR. Wilier tested it in the Silverstone wind tunnel and reports a 13.6 percent reduction in drag compared with the ID1, ahead of the 12 percent its CFD simulations projected. Across the complete bike-and-rider system, Wilier puts the gain at 4.5 percent, which it says saves 14.15 watts at 40 km/h. Those are Wilier's own figures, not independent results. Frame weight is unchanged from the ID1 at 860g for a painted size M, while Wilier says bottom bracket stiffness rises from 187 to 201 Nm per degree.

The fork shows much of the aero work. Wilier developed the leg shapes from NACA airfoil profiles, combining an airfoil outer surface with a flat inner face. A fin along the left leg skims the disc and encloses the brake caliper, and the thru axle bushing sits inside the right leg. At the back, the stays incline inward by 2.5 degrees, a decision Wilier says came from analyzing how the stays interact with the rider's legs while pedaling. The longer rear triangle also fits UDH dropouts and tires up to 34mm wide.

Materials, cockpit and fit

The frame is a carbon monocoque built with Toray fibers: T800, T1100 and M46JB, chosen to balance responsiveness, stiffness and weight. The F-Bar ID2 integrated cockpit has an Optimized Ergonomic Flare, a 3 cm difference between the high and low grip positions, and it hides all clamping hardware for the first time on a Wilier cockpit. Handlebar width comes in 35/38, 37/40 and 39/42 cm. The seatpost comes standard with zero offset, and a 15mm setback is available on request. Wilier's AccuFit system gives 420 possible configurations across six frame sizes, from XS to XXL. Because bar and stem are one piece, it pays to get the size right up front. In the size M, stack is 541mm and reach is 386.5mm, with a 72-degree head tube angle.

The bike also carries its drinks cleanly. Wilier's Aerokit system, developed with Elite, holds 1,100ml across bottles shaped to the down tube. Wilier says it cuts drag by more than two-thirds compared with a conventional bottle setup, and standard round bottles fit too.

Red AXS, power and wheels

The drivetrain is SRAM Red AXS E1, with wireless shifters and derailleurs and hydraulic disc brakes on 160mm Paceline X rotors. The crankset is 48/35 with a built-in power meter, so you get power data with no separate pedals. The 10-36 cassette gives fast group rides and sprints a tight spread, with a usable low gear for climbs.

The wheels are Miche Deva RD 52 carbon with CeramicSpeed bearings in the hubs. The 52mm depth is a good all-round aero profile, and Vittoria Corsa Pro tires in 700x28 suit the wide, low-pressure approach most racers prefer. A Prologo Nago R4 saddle completes the build.

Who it's for

Wilier has been building bikes in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, since 1906. The Filante SLR ID2 suits racers, fast group riders, and anyone who wants a top-spec Italian aero road bike with power data from the first ride. Add pedals, set your saddle height, and it is ready.

The RA Perspective

The first thing worth saying about the Filante SLR ID2 is how complete it is. SRAM Red AXS E1, a power meter in the crank and carbon wheels on ceramic bearings mean pedals are the only purchase left. For a rider who wants to start training with numbers right away, that matters.

Wilier's aero work shows in the fork, the cockpit and the shaping around the bottles. The F-Bar ID2 is clean and fast-looking, and it also means fit adjustments are limited compared with a bike that has a separate stem. We would encourage anyone considering this bike to get the size and cockpit position right before ordering, because swapping later is not a quick job.

The 48/35 chainrings and 10-36 cassette suit the bike's character. It is meant to be ridden fast and hard, and the gearing covers sprints and moderate climbs without feeling limited. If you live somewhere with long, steep climbs, think about whether the gearing fits your terrain. The 52mm wheels are a good all-round depth for most riders, though they will feel livelier in crosswinds than a shallower rim.

We would reach for this bike on race day, for fast group rides and for any day when you want the data and the speed together.
