We recommend the G700 to riders who are already sold on gravel and want a real carbon upgrade rather than a compromise between a road wheel and something purpose-built for dirt. The hookless, wide-channel setup makes a noticeable difference in tubeless setup and tire fit compared to older hooked gravel rims — tires seat more predictably and hold air better at the low pressures gravel riding rewards.

The honest tradeoff is that this isn't the lightest carbon gravel wheel on the market, and if you're building a dedicated race bike for the lightest possible setup, there are pricier, lighter options from Reynolds' own Blacklabel line. What the G700 gets you instead is a genuinely durable build — the 24-spoke, 3-cross pattern and brass nipples are chosen for surviving rock strikes and washboard roads, not for winning a scale competition.

We'd point this wheelset toward a rider doing gravel racing, bikepacking, or long mixed-surface days who wants one set of wheels that handles the pavement connectors as well as the dirt. It's a smart, durable choice for someone who rides gravel often enough to want carbon, but doesn't want to babysit a wheelset built only for perfect conditions.
