Scott Addict RC 20 Bike shares its frame with every other model in Scott's Addict RC range, from the entry-level RC30 up through the flagship RC Pro, which means the engineering underneath this build kit is the same as what you'd find on a bike costing thousands more. It's a road bike built for riders who want the full performance of the Addict RC platform with a more accessible groupset and wheel package.
The frame is molded from Scott's HMX carbon fiber, a high-modulus blend chosen for its weight-to-strength ratio. Scott claims a 650-gram frame weight in a medium size with a 295-gram fork, a notable drop from the outgoing Addict RC generation. Every tube on the frame carries an airfoil profile, a shape chosen to work double duty on aerodynamics and stiffness rather than sacrificing one for the other. The rear dropout uses a sandwich design, with the derailleur hanger seated into the frame before the thru-axle clamps it down, which Scott built specifically to reinforce the area of the frame that takes the most abuse from crashes and rough handling. Geometry follows the same race-oriented numbers as the rest of the RC line: a 73-degree head tube angle and 73.3-degree seat tube angle, with a longer reach and lower stack than Scott's endurance-focused Addict, putting the rider in a genuine race position rather than a relaxed one.
Shifting runs through Shimano's Ultegra Di2 R8150 derailleurs, paired with an Ultegra R8100 crankset in a 52/36 chainring setup and an 11-34 cassette, giving a wide enough spread for both flat-out group rides and steeper climbing days. Ultegra R8170 hydraulic disc brakes handle stopping power, with 160mm and 140mm rotors front and rear. The wheel package steps down slightly from the Addict RC 10, running Syncros Capital 40 CF II carbon wheels wrapped in Continental Grand Prix TR tires at 700x30, with room to run up to 700x34 if you want more volume. Rather than the one-piece integrated cockpit found higher in the range, the RC 20 keeps a separate Syncros HB-R100-CF carbon handlebar and ST-R100-AL alloy stem, a setup that's easier and less expensive to adjust or replace. The Belcarra V2.0 saddle rounds out the build with a cut-out design and chromoly rails.
The riding experience is what's earned the Addict RC its reputation: a plush, forgiving feel over rough pavement paired with a lively, responsive character when you get out of the saddle. Independent lab testing has ranked the frame's bottom bracket stiffness among the best in its category, which shows up as efficient power delivery on climbs and hard accelerations rather than flex you can feel through the pedals. It's a bike aimed at riders who want race performance without needing the most expensive build in the lineup to get it.
