Argon 18 Nitrogen Pro Dura-Ace Di2 Bike Info

The Argon 18 Nitrogen Pro Dura-Ace Di2 Bike pairs one of the most trusted electronic road drivetrains with the most aerodynamically advanced frame Argon 18 has ever built. The Nitrogen Pro's design principle — model the complete system, bike and rider together, rather than optimizing the bare frame in isolation — produces a claimed 24 watts of savings at 45km/h over the Sum Pro it replaces. At approximately 6.9kg in size medium, it delivers that aero performance without the weight penalty that once came with deep-section carbon, and without requiring any compromises on component quality or ride character.

The frame is full high-modulus carbon built to Argon 18's Pro-level layup, the product of evaluating 130 different tube profiles before settling on the final shapes. Bottom bracket stiffness is up 23% compared to the Sum Pro, head tube stiffness is up 6%, and the overall chassis is 18.5% stiffer — while maintaining equal vertical compliance. The seat stays run horizontal and dropped, borrowing geometry from Argon 18's track bike program to clean up drag at the rear of the frame. A T47 threaded bottom bracket shell fitted with a CeramicSpeed SLT DUB bearing, Universal Derailleur Hanger rear dropout, and fully internal cable routing complete the chassis foundation. The fork — the product of 25 prototypes — is 80% stiffer than the previous Nitrogen disc fork, with the front brake caliper tucked behind the fork legs and the crown recessed to form one continuous aerodynamic surface with the flow-optimized head tube. The ATTEN CHB-01 integrated one-piece bar and stem sits at the front, with an arrow-shaped cross-section and 15mm more stack and 5mm less reach than the Sum Pro — an aero position accessible to more riders.

The drivetrain is Shimano's Dura-Ace R9200 Di2 — the twelfth generation of a groupset that has defined the benchmark for electronic road shifting since it was introduced. Wired Di2 delivers shift actuation that is immediate and consistent regardless of conditions, with battery management that is predictable and well understood after years in the peloton. The FC-R9200 crankset runs 52/36T chainrings paired with a CS-R9200 11-30T cassette — a 12-speed spread built for road racing and fast all-day riding in equal measure. Shimano Dura-Ace BR-R9270 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm front and 140mm rear Shimano RT-CL900 rotors provide the stopping. The rest of the build carries through identically to the flagship configuration: ATTEN × Scope Artech 6.A+ wheels at 65mm rim depth, Vittoria Corsa Pro TLR 30mm tubeless tires, CeramicSpeed SLT headset, Repente Quasar CR 2.0 saddle, and the Nitrogen Pro integrated aero seatpost.

Design Benefits

  1. System-level aero that holds up on real roads — Argon 18's CFD work modeled bike and rider together, not just the bare frame. The claimed 24-watt advantage at 45km/h over the Sum Pro reflects how the complete system — frame, fork, cockpit, and wheels — interacts with airflow in actual riding conditions, not a controlled tunnel environment with no rider on board.
  2. Stiffness with compliance built in — The 23% increase in bottom bracket stiffness over the Sum Pro means direct, efficient power transfer in every pedal stroke. The Pro-level carbon layup achieves this while maintaining the same vertical compliance as the previous generation — the frame absorbs road texture rather than transmitting it, which matters over the course of a long race or hard century.
  3. Dura-Ace R9200 Di2 — reliable, precise, proven — The R9200 generation brought 12-speed to Shimano's top-tier electronic road groupset and refined the shift actuation that Di2 has been known for since its introduction. The 52/36T crank and 11-30T cassette give a wide enough range for most road terrain while keeping the gearing tight where it matters at speed. Wired Di2 means consistent performance and straightforward battery management in all conditions.
  4. A wheelset designed for this frame, not sourced for it — The ATTEN × Scope Artech 6.A+ was co-developed alongside the Nitrogen Pro frame, with the 65mm rim depth and Aeroscales technology calibrated to work as an integrated aerodynamic system with the fork and tube profiles. The Scalmalloy 3D-printed hubs and 25mm internal rim width — optimized for the 30mm Vittoria Corsa Pro TLR tires — complete a wheelset that is purpose-built rather than assembled.

Final Take

The Nitrogen Pro Dura-Ace Di2 is the choice for the rider who wants Argon 18's full aero platform in Shimano's electronic drivetrain. The frame, fork, cockpit, and wheelset are identical to the flagship build — the system-level aero advantage is the same, the weight is comparable, and the CeramicSpeed bearing specification carries through. What changes is the drivetrain: Dura-Ace R9200 Di2 in place of SRAM Red eTap AXS, with the 52/36T and 11-30T gearing that has been the road racing standard for years. If Shimano is your language, this is the Nitrogen Pro built for you.

The RA Perspective

The Di2 build is the one we'd recommend to riders who are already in the Shimano ecosystem and want to stay there. Dura-Ace R9200 Di2 has a consistency and shift quality that's hard to argue with — the wired system means battery management is straightforward, firmware updates are easy via E-TUBE Project, and the shifting itself is as predictable as it gets in electronic road. For a lot of riders, that familiarity has real value.

The $500 difference between this and the Red AXS build comes down to one thing: the Red AXS build has a power meter integrated in the crankset; this one doesn't. The FC-R9200 is a standard Dura-Ace crank — excellent, but no built-in PM. If you already run a power meter or plan to add a pedal-based unit separately, that's not a limitation at all. If you want everything in one box, the Red AXS build is worth the extra.

Everything else is identical. Same Pro-level carbon monocoque frame, same ATTEN CHB-01 integrated cockpit with 15mm more stack than the Sum Pro, same ATTEN × Scope Artech 6.A+ wheelset co-developed for this frame, same CeramicSpeed bearings in the BB and headset. The 52/36T chainrings with an 11-30T cassette give you a classic road race spread — plenty of top end, manageable on sustained climbs.

Bottom line: if you're building a dedicated road race bike on Shimano Di2 and want the best aero frame Argon 18 makes, this is it.
