Pivot Shuttle SL/AM Ride Eagle 70/90 Transmission Bike w/Range Extender Info
The Pivot Shuttle SL/AM Ride Eagle 70/90 Transmission Bike w/Range Extender is Pivot's lightweight e-MTB built to close the gap between an electric bike and a standard mountain bike. Pivot describes the Shuttle SL/AM as coming from "the fusion of agility and electric ferocity," built to stay under 40 pounds so it handles like an unassisted bike rather than a heavier e-MTB carrying extra weight around. At $9,098, this build pairs Bosch's smallest, lightest motor with SRAM's mechanical Eagle Transmission drivetrain and includes a range extender battery.
Power comes from the Bosch Performance Line SX drive unit, which Bosch built as its lightest and most compact motor to date, delivering up to 600 watts of peak power and 55Nm of torque. That's noticeably less torque than a full-power e-MTB motor, a deliberate tradeoff that keeps the bike light enough to still feel like a mountain bike under pedaling input rather than something the motor is doing for you. A 400Wh internal battery handles most rides, and this build includes the range extender, a bottle-shaped 250Wh unit that mounts to the frame and adds meaningful range for longer days without permanently adding the weight of a bigger internal battery.
Suspension and Frame
The carbon frame runs Pivot's dw-link suspension, delivering 150mm of rear travel matched to a 160mm Fox Performance 36 fork up front. Pivot tunes dw-link on this platform for quick acceleration out of corners and consistent support through both climbs and technical descents, the same suspension philosophy found across Pivot's unassisted trail bikes. Geometry spans XS through XL, with reach figures from 420mm to 500mm and seat tube lengths from 343mm to 470mm depending on size, numbers built around confident, all-mountain handling rather than a dedicated climbing or descending bias.
Eagle 70/90 Transmission Drivetrain
This build runs SRAM's mechanical Eagle Transmission drivetrain, using a direct-mount, hangerless derailleur interface that bolts straight to the frame at the rear axle instead of relying on a replaceable hanger. A Praxis Alloy eCrank with a 34t chainring drives a 10-52t SRAM XS-1270 cassette through an Eagle 70 Flattop chain, shifted mechanically rather than through SRAM's wireless AXS system. SRAM DB8 Stealth four-piston hydraulic brakes with 200mm rotors front and rear provide the stopping power to match a bike that will see real descents, not just paved bike paths.
DT Swiss Hybrid H1900 wheels in a 30mm rim width run 29-inch front and rear, wrapped in Maxxis Minion tires, a DHF up front at 29x2.5 and a DHRII out back at 29x2.4, a combination built for aggressive cornering grip and predictable braking traction. A Pivot-branded dropper post ranging from 150mm to 200mm depending on frame size rounds out a build that leans toward trail and all-mountain riding over cross-country efficiency.
This is a bike for a rider who wants electric assistance without giving up the feel of a standard mountain bike, someone who wants to ride further or climb harder on the same trails they already ride unassisted, not necessarily add capability they didn't already want. The lighter Bosch motor and included range extender make this a practical choice for a rider who values handling and weight over maximum torque and battery capacity.
