Pivot Mach 4 SL Team XX Eagle Transmission Flight Attendant Bike Info

The Pivot Mach 4 SL Team XX Eagle Transmission Flight Attendant Bike is Pivot's cross-country race platform built with the fullest electronic build SRAM and RockShox currently offer. Pivot describes the Mach 4 SL as "XC, distilled to its fastest form," and this build backs that up: SRAM's wireless Eagle Transmission drivetrain, RockShox's automatic Flight Attendant suspension, and a Hollow Core carbon frame developed from Pivot's World Cup racing program. At $13,999, it's positioned for a rider who wants a race-day mountain bike without a single component left to guess about.

Frame construction uses Pivot's highest-modulus carbon fiber, molded with the brand's proprietary Hollow Core technology, which Pivot says trims 300 to 400 grams compared to the previous Mach 4 SL generation. Suspension runs on Pivot's dw-link design, using position-sensitive anti-squat to resist pedal bob under hard efforts while still working deeper in the stroke to absorb bigger hits. Travel is adjustable between 110mm and 120mm at the rear paired with a 120mm fork, letting a rider tune the bike between a pure XC race setup and something with more cushion for longer, rougher days.

Flight Attendant Suspension

The RockShox SID Ultimate fork and SIDLuxe Ultimate shock run Flight Attendant, RockShox's automatic electronic suspension system. Sensors at the fork, shock, and crank sample data every five milliseconds and switch the suspension between Open, Pedal, and Lock damping positions without rider input. Because the system reads pedaling input alongside trail data, it's built to anticipate terrain rather than just react to it, firming up for a hard pedaling effort and opening back up the instant the trail turns rough or drops away underneath you.

Eagle Transmission Drivetrain

The SRAM XX SL Eagle AXS Transmission drivetrain uses SRAM's direct-mount, hangerless derailleur interface, which bolts straight to the frame at the rear axle instead of relying on a replaceable hanger. That mount is rated to withstand significant impact force before deforming, and the derailleur needs no B-tension or limit screw adjustment after setup. The SRAM XX SL Eagle DUB crankset carries an integrated power meter and runs a single 34t chainring against a 10-52t XS-1299 Eagle Transmission cassette, shifted through an AXS Pod Ultimate controller. Braking comes from SRAM Motive Ultimate four-piston hydraulic disc brakes on 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors, and a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper post handles seat height on the fly.

Reynolds Blacklabel 309 XC Pro carbon wheels laced to Industry Nine Solix hubs keep rotating weight down, wrapped in Maxxis Rekon TR tires in a 29x2.4 EXO casing for a tire that rolls fast without giving up much traction on loose or rocky XC courses. The frame is available from XS through XL, with a medium running a 66-degree head angle, 75-degree seat angle, and 450mm reach, geometry numbers built for stability at speed without losing the sharp, predictable cornering an XC racer needs on a tight, technical lap.

This is a bike for a rider racing or training at a level where automatic suspension tuning and a power meter crank are worth the investment, not a casual trail bike that happens to have electronic parts bolted on. The adjustable travel and Flight Attendant's ability to open up on rougher terrain give it more range than a dedicated hardtail-adjacent XC race bike, while the dw-link suspension and Transmission drivetrain keep it efficient enough for a rider counting every watt on a long climb.

The RA Perspective

The thing that stands out riding the Mach 4 SL Team XX build isn't any single component, it's how little you have to think about the suspension. Flight Attendant firms up on its own the moment you start putting down a hard pedaling effort and opens back up before you'd normally reach for a lever, and after a few rides you stop noticing it's happening at all, which is the point. On smooth fire road climbs it locks out tighter than we expected from an automatic system, and on chattery singletrack descents it opens fast enough that we never felt caught out in the wrong mode.

The Eagle Transmission drivetrain is the other piece worth calling out. Shifting under full load on a steep pitch, which used to be the one thing you avoided on a mechanical drivetrain, works here without hesitation or a dropped chain. The tradeoff is repair cost if you crash hard enough to actually damage the derailleur, since it's a direct-mount unit rather than a cheap replaceable hanger, though SRAM built it to survive impacts that would have destroyed a standard derailleur outright.

This is a race bike first. The dw-link suspension and Hollow Core carbon frame keep it light and efficient on climbs, and the adjustable rear travel gives it a bit more room to handle rougher XC courses than the previous generation. We'd point this bike at a rider training or racing seriously at the XC level, someone who wants a power meter built into the crank and doesn't want to spend time fiddling with compression settings mid-lap.
