Pivot Mach 4 SL Ride Eagle 70/90 Bike Info
The Pivot Mach 4 SL Ride Eagle 70/90 Bike is the entry point into Pivot's cross-country race platform, built around the same frame and suspension technology found on every other Mach 4 SL build at a lower price through its component spec. Pivot describes the Mach 4 SL as "XC, distilled to its fastest form," developed alongside the brand's World Cup racing program rather than adapted down from a trail bike. At $6,399, this build still runs SRAM's Eagle Transmission drivetrain and Fox suspension, just in Performance and mechanical-shift tiers rather than the top-end parts found on pricier Mach 4 SL builds.
Frame construction uses Pivot's highest-modulus carbon fiber, molded with the brand's proprietary Hollow Core technology, which the brand says trims 300 to 400 grams compared to the previous Mach 4 SL generation. Suspension runs on Pivot's dw-link design, using position-sensitive anti-squat to resist pedal bob under hard pedaling efforts while still working deeper in the stroke to absorb bigger hits. Travel is adjustable between 110mm and 120mm at the rear, paired with a 120mm fork, giving a rider room to set the bike up for a pure XC race or open it up slightly for a rougher course.
Fox Performance Suspension
The Fox Performance 34 SL fork runs Fox's GRIP damper rather than the higher-end GRIP SL found on pricier builds, a slightly heavier tune that still delivers the small-bump sensitivity and stiffness this fork chassis is known for. A Fox Performance Float shock handles the rear, working with the dw-link layout to keep the bike efficient under power while still absorbing square-edge hits on technical XC terrain. The difference between Performance and Factory-series Fox suspension comes down to finish and small tuning refinements rather than a change in fundamental design.
Mechanical Eagle Transmission Drivetrain
This build runs SRAM's Eagle Transmission drivetrain in its mechanical form, using the same direct-mount, hangerless derailleur interface as SRAM's wireless AXS Transmission builds, just shifted with a cable rather than a button press. That hangerless mount bolts straight to the frame at the rear axle instead of relying on a replaceable hanger, giving it a stronger, more crash-resistant attachment point than a traditional setup. The SRAM Eagle 70 DUB crankset runs a single 32t chainring against a 10-52t XS-1270 Eagle Transmission cassette, shifted through the Eagle 90 Mechanical Transmission derailleur. SRAM DB8 Stealth four-piston hydraulic brakes with 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors provide reliable stopping power at a price point below the Motive-branded brakes on higher builds.
DT Swiss X1900 wheels wrap in Maxxis Ardent Race tires in a 29x2.2 EXO casing, a narrower, faster-rolling tire and rim combination built for XC race courses rather than technical trail riding. The cockpit swaps to an aluminum Phoenix Race Low Rise handlebar at 780mm and a 60mm Phoenix Race stem, with a narrow Phoenix WTB Race Volt saddle rounding out a build focused on getting a rider racing without the cost of carbon finishing kit. The frame is available from XS through XL, with reach spanning 410mm to 495mm and stack from 583mm to 629mm, geometry that matches the higher-spec Mach 4 SL builds size for size.
This build suits a rider getting into XC racing who wants the Mach 4 SL's frame and suspension technology without paying for wireless shifting or carbon wheels yet. The mechanical Eagle Transmission still shifts reliably under load and benefits from the same hangerless durability as the AXS version, making this a smart place to start on the platform before upgrading components as budget allows.
