Pivot LES SL Dropbar GX Transmission Bike Info
The Pivot LES SL Dropbar GX Transmission Bike occupies territory that almost no other drop-bar bike attempts. Rather than adapting a road or gravel frame to handle rougher terrain, Pivot built the LES SL Dropbar on their LES SL cross-country race platform — one of the lightest and most capable XC frames in the sport — and paired it with drop bars, a 100mm suspension fork, and mountain bike axle spacing. The result is a bike that covers serious mixed terrain the way a conventional gravel bike can't: fully suspended at the front, running 29x2.25" tires, on the same chassis XC racers use at the highest level of the sport. At $6,399, the LES SL Dropbar is built for riders who want to go farther and faster across terrain that lies well beyond what a rigid gravel setup can handle.
The frame is hollow core carbon at 800 grams — a weight that competes with the lightest frames across any bicycle category. Pivot builds with a size-specific carbon layup, adjusting fiber orientation and schedule across the size range rather than scaling geometry while keeping the same material spec. Full internal routing runs through Pivot's cable port system, keeping lines managed without making service inaccessible. The UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) dropout is compatible with SRAM's T-Type direct-mount transmission standard and simplifies in-field hanger replacement. Low standover across the size range accommodates riders from 4'10" to 6'7" — a wider fit window than most XC platforms, reflecting the LES SL Dropbar's broader mission. The geometry was adapted from the standard LES SL with a longer wheelbase and more relaxed head angle, calibrated for the steering inputs and body position that come with drop bar riding over mixed terrain. Pivot's Precision Sealed Integrated headset completes the front end.
The Fox Performance Stepcast 32 fork runs 100mm of travel with GRIP damping and 44mm offset. On a drop-bar bike, this amount of travel is rare — most gravel bikes run rigid, and the few that incorporate suspension cap well short of this. What 100mm of travel does on rough terrain is remove a significant category of obstacles from the bike's limitation list. Washboard gravel, embedded rock gardens, rooted singletrack descents — conditions that require particular focus and slow you down on a rigid fork become manageable and fast. The Stepcast chassis keeps fork weight down, and GRIP damping provides position-adjustable rebound. The tires are Maxxis Aspen ST in 29x2.25 — XC race rubber that rolls fast on hardpack while maintaining traction on loose surfaces. Boost front (15x110mm) and Superboost rear (12x148mm) axle spacing bring the whole wheel and tire setup to full mountain bike standard, opening up route options that a conventional gravel bike wouldn't consider.
The drivetrain pairs SRAM Force AXS E1 drop bar levers with the SRAM GX Eagle Transmission rear derailleur — taking the best available wireless drop bar interface and connecting it to mountain bike-grade drivetrain hardware. GX Eagle Transmission uses SRAM's T-Type direct-mount architecture, which eliminates the B-tension screw and traditional derailleur hanger alignment tolerances by locking the derailleur position relative to the cassette — a system that shifts consistently under load in conditions where a conventional derailleur would struggle. The 32t chainring drives a 10-52t cassette across 12 speeds, a range that covers sustained mountain climbing as comfortably as flat road pacing. It's a fully wireless system with no shift cables to route, stretch, or replace. DT Swiss X1900 wheels run 370 hubs on mountain bike axle standards front and rear. SRAM Level Silver 2-piston hydraulic disc brakes with SRAM Centerline 160mm rotors handle stopping with consistent, modulated feel.
The finishing kit uses Pivot's Phoenix sub-brand components throughout: Phoenix Gravel stem with 31.8mm clamp, Phoenix Sport Gravel alloy handlebar, and a Phoenix WTB Race Volt saddle in narrow width. The FSA SL-K seatpost carries a 20mm setback. Three colorways are available: Black Sunset, Silver Bullet, and Blue Ribbon. The LES SL Dropbar is a bike for a specific kind of rider — one who has pushed against the limits of what a conventional gravel setup can handle, who wants to link trail systems and gravel routes in the same day without switching bikes, or who simply wants a drop-bar machine that doesn't have to slow down when the terrain gets rough. There isn't another production drop-bar bike that brings this combination of frame weight, suspension travel, and drivetrain range together at this price. That's what the LES SL Dropbar is.
