Wilier Urta Ultimate XX SL Bike w/RockShox SID Ultimate Info
The Wilier Urta Ultimate XX SL Bike w/RockShox SID Ultimate is the Italian brand's full-suspension carbon mountain bike built up with the lightest parts SRAM and Shimano make. Wilier has been building bikes in Bassano del Grappa since 1906, and the Urta is where that road-racing background meets cross-country trails: 120mm of travel at both ends, 29-inch wheels, and a build that treats every gram as something to be justified.
The frame is listed as Toray M40X carbon, a higher-modulus fiber that Wilier uses to keep weight down while preserving stiffness where the bike needs it. Out back, a RockShox SID Ultimate 3P shock controls 120mm of rear travel, and a RockShox SID Ultimate fork matches it up front. That 120/120 pairing is the classic modern cross-country setup. It is short enough to stay quick when you stand and sprint, and long enough to take the edge off rooty climbs and rock gardens that would wear you down on a hardtail.
Geometry built for speed on real trails
The Urta lists two head angle settings: 66.5 degrees for technical trails and 65.5 degrees for fast, open terrain. Those numbers are slacker than a traditional XC race bike, which tends to mean more confidence on descents without giving up much on the climbs. The 76.8-degree seat angle keeps your weight over the cranks on steep pitches, and 433mm chainstays are the same across all four sizes (S through XL), so the rear-end feel stays consistent as you move up the range. A medium has 452mm of reach and 596mm of top tube.
The cockpit is a Wilier Urta Max one-piece carbon bar and stem with a -27 degree stem angle. The integrated design removes the clamp and bolts of a conventional setup, and the steep drop puts you in a low, race-ready position. The headset is an Acros AMX-005, and a KS LEV SI dropper post lets you lower the saddle for technical descents and raise it again for the climb.
A drivetrain at the top of the catalog
Shifting comes from SRAM XX SL Eagle T-Type, controlled by the AXS Pod Ultimate shifter. T-Type is SRAM's direct-mount, frame-independent derailleur system, so shifting stays accurate under load, even when you hit a climb in the wrong gear. A 34-tooth chainring works with a 10-52 XS-1299 12-speed cassette, for a wide range that covers steep climbs and fast flats. The crankset sits on a SRAM DUB Pressfit MTB 92 bottom bracket.
Braking uses Shimano XTR M9200 hydraulic discs and levers, with MT900 rotors at 180mm in front and 160mm in the rear. Running two brand families is common in high-end builds: SRAM for shifting, Shimano for stopping power and lever feel.
Wheels, tires and finishing touches
Miche K1 RD wheels are fitted at both ends, wrapped in Vittoria Saguaro 29 x 2.25 tires. The saddle is a Selle San Marco Shortfit 2.0 Open-Fit Narrow. Pedals are not included, so you can fit the system you already ride. The Team Edition colorway is offered in sizes S through XL.
At $12,200, the Urta Ultimate XX SL is a bike for riders who race cross-country, chase long mountain days, or want a premium Italian carbon mountain bike with a top-tier build already done. It is not the pick if you want a long-travel trail machine. It is the one for people who want to go fast uphill without dreading the way down.
