Assos designed them to go over your existing summer bib shorts for cycling, or over Spring/Fall and Winter bib tights from the R and TACTICA series when conditions turn genuinely cold, and the unisex regularFit is cut to make that layering easy rather than bulky.
The fabric is RX EVO Plus, the warmest textile in Assos' RX EVO family. It resists odor, wraps the large muscle groups in asymmetrical stretch, and traps body warmth through low-volume thermoregulation rather than heavy bulk. The warp knit construction resists abrasion and holds its black color rather than showing white through the elastic as it stretches — a detail that matters on a piece meant to be worn as an outer layer.
Fit details carry over from Assos' Racing Series: a zeroPressure waist uses a soft, highly elastic material for hold without pinching, and an X-Frame suspension design limits sag on the lower back to keep the main body panels stable through the pedal stroke. Body-contoured shaping reduces seams to cut down on friction during layering, and raw-cut waist and ankle finishes keep bulk to a minimum. Large reflective stripes on the lower legs add visibility in low light, flashing with each pedal stroke. Because it ships with no insert, the Thermobooster also crosses over into winter running and skiing, where the same low-volume insulation and reflectivity carry over.
