Shimano rates the sole stiffness near the top of its scale, on par with what you'd expect from an elite-level race shoe, and pairs it with a low stack height midsole so your foot sits closer to the pedal for direct power transfer on every stroke.

The surround-wrapping upper wraps the foot for a glove-like fit that adds rigidity and stability without sacrificing comfort, and the wide version of the last gives riders with broader feet the same locked-in feel without pressure points across the forefoot.
