The Guru Crono Frameset is the flagship time trial and triathlon platform from Guru, a Montreal-based custom bike manufacturer that built the Crono as one of the first fully customizable seamless aero carbon monocoque framesets on the market. Sold as a frame only, it's a canvas for triathletes who want to dial in their own fit and components rather than inherit someone else's spec sheet. At $650, marked down from a $3,895 retail price, it's a way into a frame that was originally built for athletes chasing every available second on course.

Construction is aerospace-grade, high-modulus carbon with a 70/30 fiber-to-resin ratio, laid up as a seamless monocoque rather than bonded from separate sections — a method Guru used to eliminate the weak points that come with joined tubes on a TT frame. The frameset weighs 1,280 grams at the 52cm size, and an "Extreme" layup configuration was offered for riders who wanted the construction tuned further to their own weight and riding style. That level of customization at the frame level is unusual for a production triathlon platform, most of which offer a single stiffness tune across the entire size run.

Geometry on the Crono spans a wide seat tube angle range, from 75 to 80 degrees, covering everything from a road-biased position to the steep, forward-rotated stance that defines serious triathlon and TT racing. That range lets a rider push over the front axle for an aggressive aero position without fighting the frame's default geometry to get there. At the bottom bracket, Guru's proprietary flared shell design widens the junction between down tube, seat tube, and chainstays, adding torsional rigidity and out-of-plane stiffness where a TT frame needs it most — under hard, seated power output with no ability to stand and unload the drivetrain.

The head tube carries cables internally to keep the front end's airflow clean, and the top tube and seat tube feed into a proprietary, ultra-light aero carbon seatpost integrated into the frame's silhouette rather than bolted on as an afterthought. An Alpha Q GS20 carbon fork completes the front end, and the platform was built to accommodate both 700c and 650c wheel setups, giving riders room to tune their aero package around their own height and preferred wheel size.

Guru's stated goal with the Crono was the purest, smoothest transfer of power on course — a frame stiff enough to hold pace on a flat TT effort but tuned to leave a triathlete's legs fresher heading into the run. That custom-fit philosophy runs through every part of the frame's design, from the adjustable seat tube angle range to the layup options at the frame level.
