Scott Spark RC Team Issue Bike Info
The Scott Spark RC Team Issue Bike is Gen5 Spark RC — Scott's most successful cross-country race platform — built to a spec that professional team mechanics would recognize: capable, race-ready, and calibrated for performance over a full season rather than the obsessive weight pursuit of the top-tier SL. The frame architecture, Flight Attendant suspension, and geometry are the same as the rest of the RC lineup. The Team Issue arrives with a component spec where the differences show up in material grades and component tiers, not in what the bike fundamentally is or how it rides.
The frame is Spark RC HMF carbon, Gen5 — Scott's high-modulus layup, purpose-built for XC competition. The suspension architecture is shared across the entire RC family: a short-link linkage rotating around the bottom bracket, with a pivot positioned just below the crankset. A flex pivot handles the first millimeter of small-bump travel — the constant chatter that accumulates over a race lap and wears you down before the finish — before transitioning progressively through the remaining 120mm. The rear shock mounts inside the downtube, where the frame is already reinforced against pedaling forces, which keeps the system compact and the weight distribution centered. The headset includes a ±0.5° angle-adjust that can bring the head tube as slack as 65.4° for courses mixing technical descents into the XC loop. Syncros Octopus Gen2 cable routing runs all lines fully internally through the headset, color-coded and flexible — a clean front end that reduces friction and simplifies trailside setup. The frame uses a BSA bottom bracket shell, 12x148mm rear spacing, and UDH derailleur interface.
Flight Attendant is the defining technology in the Gen5 Spark RC lineup, and it's fully present on the Team Issue. The RockShox SID Ultimate Flight Attendant fork — FA Race Day 3P damper, 15x110mm Maxle Stealth — and SIDLuxe Ultimate Flight Attendant rear shock (190x45mm, Solo Air) use accelerometers and wireless sensors to switch automatically between lockout, pedaling support, and descent modes. On sustained climbs the suspension locks down for clean power transfer. On technical terrain it opens before you consciously register the need. In cross-country racing, where a course can cycle through fireroad, rooted singletrack, and steep descents within a single lap, the ability to keep your focus on the line rather than your suspension controls is a real advantage. This is the same Flight Attendant system as the SL build. The platform doesn't change between tiers.
The drivetrain is SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission — wireless, 12-speed, with a 34T ring and 10-52 cassette. The crankset includes an integrated GX spider power meter, so riders training and racing with power data have it built in from the start. Shifting runs through the SRAM AXS Rocker Pod Controller. Brakes are SRAM Motive Bronze 4-piston calipers with HS2 rotors at 180mm front and 160mm rear. Wheels are Syncros Silverton CF2 carbon, tubeless ready, wrapped in Maxxis Aspen 29x2.4 120TPI EXO tires. The cockpit is a Syncros IC-M100-SL2 one-piece integrated carbon bar and stem in HMF carbon — 740mm width, -10° angle, 7° back sweep — the same integrated design as the SL, in the same carbon grade as the frame. The seatpost is a Syncros aluminum dropper at 31.6mm. Bar ends carry the Syncros Tool & Tubeless kit and the grips include built-in storage for a tubeless plug kit.
The Spark RC Team Issue is available in three colors — Carbon Black, Dorado Grey / Carbon Black, and Ultra Blue / Carbon Black — in sizes Small through XL on 29-inch wheels. In cycling, "Team Issue" has a specific meaning: the spec a team races across a full season, where reliability and performance consistency matter alongside outright weight. The Team Issue and the SL share the same race platform. The difference is in component grades and about $6,500. For the cross-country racer who wants Flight Attendant, integrated power measurement, and the Gen5 Spark RC architecture without the SL's price, this is the build that makes sense.
