The ENVE Fray Frameset is what I recommend to riders who want one bike that feels fast on clean pavement, but doesn’t panic when the road turns rough, patched, or “maybe-gravel.” It’s an all-road endurance platform built with ENVE’s race DNA, then tuned for real-life riding: long miles, changing surfaces, and the kind of routes that don’t stay perfect for very long.
Built around the tires you actually want to ride
ENVE designed the Fray around 31–35mm tires—that sweet spot where a road bike still feels quick, but you gain comfort and grip. And when you want extra cushion, the Fray can fit up to 40mm with a 1x build (or up to 38mm with a 2x). That means you can go from “fast group ride” to “backroads adventure” without needing a second bike.
The hidden superpower: Cargo Bay in-frame storage
ENVE’s Cargo Bay is clean, simple, and genuinely useful. It uses the space inside the downtube to carry the stuff you always need: tube, CO₂, tire lever, a mini tool, even a light windbreaker. Under the Cargo Door, two bags provide 36 cubic inches / 0.6 liters of storage—so your pockets stay lighter and your bike stays tidy.
Modern road performance details (the ones that matter)
This isn’t “comfort bike” soft. The Fray uses aero tube shaping and a modern chassis feel, so when you stand up and push, the bike responds. At the same time, it’s stable and calm—exactly what you want when the ride goes long.
