Cervelo Caledonia Force AXS Bike Info

The Cervelo Caledonia Force AXS Bike is Cervelo’s endurance road machine — a high-performance carbon road bike built for riders who want genuine speed across long terrain without the punishing stiffness of a pure race geometry. The Caledonia is designed for all-season riders, fondo enthusiasts, and anyone who logs enough hours in the saddle that all-day comfort and all-weather capability matter as much as outright pace. It rides and handles like a Cervelo, which means it holds its own in spirited group rides, descends with confidence, and doesn’t ask you to compromise on the days when the ride gets longer than planned.

The carbon frame uses a highly-tuned layup that balances lateral stiffness against vertical compliance — the rear triangle is shaped to absorb road buzz over long hours while keeping pedaling response direct. Cervelo runs a consistent 60mm trail across all six sizes (48cm through 61cm), a steering geometry that delivers planted, predictable handling whether you’re descending switchbacks at speed or holding a tight line in a group. The head tube angle measures 72 degrees on sizes 54 through 61, relaxing to 71.5 degrees at 51cm and 70.5 degrees at 48cm so that smaller-frame riders get proportional steering feel rather than quick, twitchy front-end response. Chainstays are 415mm across every size — a deliberate uniformity that means the bike handles consistently regardless of which size you’re on. The all-carbon Cervelo fork keeps steering sharp without transferring excessive road vibration to the hands, and the Cervelo SP19 carbon seatpost — at 27.2mm diameter — contributes its own measure of vertical compliance over rough surfaces.

SRAM Force AXS E1 handles every shifting and braking function on this build. Front and rear derailleurs, brake-shift levers, and crankset all communicate wirelessly, eliminating gear cables from the system entirely. The 48/35 chainring setup pairs with a 10-36 12-speed cassette — a range broad enough to handle legitimate climbing without spinning out on flat roads. The SRAM DUB T47 BBright bottom bracket fits cleanly into the Caledonia’s frame design while keeping the drivetrain stiff where it needs to be. SRAM Force E1 hydraulic disc brakes with Paceline Centerlock rotors handle stopping duties: consistent, powerful, and easy to modulate in wet conditions. With no cables to stretch or brake pads to adjust for rim wear, the maintenance demands of this drivetrain are straightforward and predictable.

The Reserve 40/44 carbon wheelset is the component that distinguishes the Force AXS build from lower-spec Caledonia builds. Reserve — Cervelo’s own wheel brand — specced an asymmetric depth pairing for this build: 40mm front, 44mm rear. It’s a considered combination, running more depth where it contributes aero efficiency on the rear and a shallower front that reduces crosswind sensitivity and keeps handling crisp in variable conditions. The 4-pawl hubs engage crisply and run quietly. Both wheels are tubeless-compatible, and the Vittoria Corsa N.EXT TLR G2.0 arrives mounted in 700x30 — a premium tubeless road tire that’s fast on pavement, durable enough for mixed conditions, and wide enough to run at reduced pressure for a noticeably better ride quality on rough tarmac and chip seal. Thirty millimeters is the right width for an endurance road bike: the rolling resistance penalty over narrower tires is minimal, and the comfort benefit over a full day in the saddle is real.

Cervelo equipped the Caledonia for riders who use their bikes through every season. Removable fender mounts integrate cleanly into the frame — present when wet weather demands them, invisible when conditions are dry. Cable and hose routing supports both semi-external and fully-integrated cockpit configurations, with the latter available when paired with compatible Cervelo stem and handlebar components. A Cervelo front computer/accessory mount (810 standard) and rear accessory mount are included. The Cervelo HB23 alloy handlebar and ST36 alloy stem ship in size-matched widths and lengths — 38cm bars at 48-51cm frames, 40cm at 54-56cm, 42cm at 58-61cm — so the cockpit fits correctly off the floor without immediate adjustments. Available in Mocha and Nightshift colorways across the full six-size run.

The RA Perspective

We’ve sold enough Caledonia builds through the shop to know where this bike sits in the conversation. It’s not the fastest bike Cervelo makes — the S5 holds that position. What the Caledonia does is give you Cervelo engineering in a format you can actually build a full season around: long autumn fondos, winter miles when the weather turns, early-spring group rides where the route goes longer than planned. It’s genuinely versatile in a way that pure race bikes aren’t.

The Force AXS build at $6,500 is the right spec level for this frame. SRAM Force AXS E1 is reliable, clean, and pairs well with the Reserve 40/44 carbon wheels — which are legitimately good wheels, not just a branding exercise. The hubs engage crisply, the depth pairing is well-considered, and the 30mm Vittoria Corsa tires running tubeless make the bike more comfortable than the spec sheet suggests. It’s a meaningful improvement over what most carbon road bikes are shipping on at this price.

A few things worth knowing: the 27.2mm carbon seatpost adds real compliance, but riders who are sensitive about saddle height should spend time dialing the fit. The alloy stem and bar are functional and appropriate here, but if you want a full carbon cockpit, that’s the first upgrade conversation to have. The removable fender mounts are a genuine feature — we’d actually recommend this for commuting or year-round riding in a way we wouldn’t for most carbon road bikes.

It fits the rider who wants Cervelo quality and handling, rides a lot, and wants a bike that works across more than one kind of day.
