The RA Perspective

We like this wheelset for riders who are logging real gravel miles rather than just dabbling in the category. The 25mm internal rim width does exactly what HED says it does — it lets a 40-45mm tire sit properly instead of getting pinched narrow, which shows up as noticeably better grip and comfort on loose or washboard surfaces.

The factory-applied tubeless tape is a small thing that saves a genuinely annoying setup step. Between that and the sealed 6902 bearings, this is a wheel you can get running quickly and not think about much afterward.

The tradeoff is weight. At roughly 1,610 grams for the pair, this isn't going to feel like a featherweight carbon wheel, and riders coming from something like HED's own Stillwater G50 will notice the difference on hard accelerations. That's the right compromise for the price, though — you're getting genuine durability and USA-built construction rather than paying for marginal weight savings.

We'd point this at a gravel rider who wants a dependable, wide-rim wheelset for long days on mixed terrain, not someone chasing the lightest possible race-day setup. For that use case, it's a smart way to get HED's rim philosophy without stepping up to their carbon lineup.
